It is wise to understand that most medical terminologies are made up of three parts that bear a significance and give directional meaning. The three parts are prefixes, roots, and suffixes which when put together give you a meaning.
The root is at the centre of the word and is the key part of the whole word. It gives you overview of what you are about to deal with and indicates the part of the body involved.
The prefix is at the beginning of the word and expounds more about the circumstances surrounding the meaning of the word.
The suffix is usually at the end of a word and, normally indicates a procedure disease or a condition.
