CHAPTER 1
PAUL
Pretty Paul-ey.
That’s what they always called him. It was a nickname that his older sister, Lila, had given him back when he was younger and it had stuck with him all the way into adulthood. She always used to tell him that he should have been a girl, but he had just laughed it off.
It hadn’t bothered him at all when he was little, but as he got older, the ‘cute’ little nickname that his sister had so innocently given him had started to feel more like a curse or a burden, rather than an endearing nickname.
Paul kicked a patch of grass as he walked through his home village. He’d had yet another ‘encounter’ – this time with one of the shopkeepers, and he just needed to get away.
As Paul had grown up, his looks had only improved. He’d been born with a pair of beautiful, deep emerald eyes that glistened like diamonds, especially in the moonlight. In his human form, he had a perfectly chiseled face, a strong, defined chin, high cheekbones, and thick, healthy black hair that brought out the color of his eyes even more. In his wolf form, his fur coat was full and glossy and his emerald eyes only brightened further.
To his misfortune, however, no matter how good-looking he might’ve been, his pretty looks had never brought him much success in his love life. In fact, he thought his looks had only hindered it.
All his life, Paul had wanted nothing more than to find his mate. His sister had found hers over a year ago and had left the pack to be with him. As it was, she was already pregnant and expecting her first child – somewhere miles away.
