    Chrissy’s short fiction has appeared in the anthologies: Fiction River: Risk-Takers, Fiction River Presents: Legacies, Fiction River Presents: Readers' Choice, Deep Magic, and When Dreams Come True (writing as Christen Anne Kelley). She writes fantasy and science fiction, as well as a softball, contemporary series for both romance and young adult (Little League Series and Home Run). Before turning to fiction, Chrissy also wrote many nonfiction articles for publications such as Montana Outdoors, Women in the Outdoors, and Jakes Magazine.       So...you're still coming right? To my party?" Elizabeth worried her bottom lip, giving Mandy the puppy-dog pout as she leaned against the seen-better-days senior lockers .

      Why would I?

      Mandy tried to ignore the spattering of Christmas wrapped lockers, tried to ignore that sick pain in her stomach. Most had been wrapped by loving couples who wanted to do something 'nice' for their boyfriend or girlfriend.

      Like Mandy had done.

      For Paul.

      The day before the jerk had broken up with her.

      Mandy slammed her boring, unwrapped burgundy-red locker shut, hoping the slamming would be an end to the conversation. The handful of students near them (those other unfortunate few whose parents had to drop them off waaay before the bell rang), glanced at Mandy, and then slowly tiptoed away.

      They clearly got the message.

      Elizabeth, however, didn't.

      Nor did she notice she was getting some unknown smudge stain onto her silk cardigan sweater from the never-been-washed locker, probably because she was so intent on asking Mandy about the party.

      Again.

      Please, please, please come. You have to come.

      Mandy shoved her Sunny View Tigers softball cap onto her head and swung her canvas green army backpack over her shoulder. No. I don't.

      If only that would be the end of the conversation—Mandy storming off and then 'poof'—Elizabeth left her alone.

      Let's just say Mandy wasn't holding her breath.

      Sure enough,
