A reporter seeks out two and four-legged creatures throughout the woods nearby and outside his community to ascertain their behavioral traits, name origins, and how they care for their offspring. The author starts by talking to a whitetail deer which in turn introduces him to another creature. Each introduces the author to another animal or fowl, as the case may be, until all ten species have submitted answers to the reporter's questions.

Paul J. Volkmann, also known as Latrobe’s Paul Harvey, has worked to bring smiles to people’s faces and make them think for a decade through his weekly newspaper column, ‘Off the Wall.”
A Roman Catholic by faith, Volkmann has never been afraid to let his spiritual convictions be shown. Not only is he a fisherman, but also a fisher of men.
Pee Vee or Mr. Pee Vee, as he is called by many, first had his passion for writing sparked in the late 60’s, as editor for a college page at the Ashland Times Gazette, in Ashland, OH.
Volkmann continues to write his “Off the Wall,” as well as an outdoor column, “Inside the Outdoors” for The Latrobe Bulletin (PA.) He also serves as vice president and newsletter editor for the Holy Family Church’s Holy Name Society.
When not at his computer, Volkmann enjoys spending time with his wife, Teri, and their grown children, Kelsey and Aaron.

After reading a wonderfully written article in the 2009-2010 Pennsylvania Hunting and Trapping Digest by Game Commission’s Wildlife Biologist Jeannine Tardiff Fleegle, in a story titled, Where Do Baby Deer Come From?,
I thought I’d throw my twist into the subject matter using some of the facts from her information that were very informative.
What one is about to read will be presented from a different point of view – mine. To provide information on deer and other creatures of God, I decided to educate my readers using an animal’s perspective which I thought would be a lot of fun. For that reason, I decided to begin by interviewing a whitetail deer and get his view on a number of issues including some of the stresses and highs and lows bucks experience between spring and fall. Here goes.
H i there. I’m Delbert, a handsome deer. I was chosen by Paul to tell my story,
he started to explain. As a buck, I get very stressed out this time of year.
Continuing on, he related, In spring I have to grow antlers or the girls won’t find me attractive. They don’t see me for what I am. All they are impressed with are the horns on my head. What a bummer,
he said. I have a wonderful body. I eat well. I think I am very masculine in appearance, and those female deer (does) are attracted to my antlers? Go figure.
Now, Paul, I have to also point out, the horns I carry around aren’t just to attract the females, but we also use them to communicate to both bucks and does. I make noise by rubbing my antlers against trees. We also use them to spar with the competition. What do you think of that – special, huh?

I decided to question him, When do you meet your counterpart for the long-awaited ‘coming together act’ you prepared for back in the spring?
In November,
he told me. The first two weeks of the year, does are pursuing me. Hey, it was nice to think back during that time period whereby I may find my woman, but when the first couple of weeks of the month roll around, there are literally thousands of girls looking to mate, possibly one with me. That certainly ups the spirits of any guy. They only have forty-eight hours to find their man, so stress enters into their life, too,
