- Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5At first I did not think I would enjoy this book and after reading I was torn. I did like the illustrations because they were bright and did portray exactly what was written. For example, 2 mice go to the market and that is what is drawn. I did not like this book because it didn't really explain what Tet was and without background knowledge I still don't understand what that Holiday is.The big idea in this story was not clear to me. It was a short story with not very much information.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Beautiful illustrations! A story that will be a great introduction to Vietnamese New Year.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Overall, I liked this book because of its illustrations and extra textual features at the end of the story. The illustrations in this text were very bright and vivid and used mice instead of people to explain the celebration. I think that using mice instead of people was a very interesting choice and worked well with the text of the book. Also, I liked the extra information included in the back of the book about the celebration. The actual text of story does not provide the best background for this celebration, however the information in the back of the book helps the reader to gain a better understanding of it. The main message of this book for the reader is to appreciate and accept different culture’s customs and celebrations.
