How to Use the Secrets of Visualisation - A. V. Black
An introduction to visualisation
Visualisation basically means to imagine something vividly in your thoughts in your mind with the assistance of your own emotions based on experiences or expectations. Martin L. Rossmann, M.D. explains visualisation as imagery, which is a flow of your thoughts you can see, feel, hear, taste or also smell. It is your inner representation of your fantasies and of your experiences and one way how also your mind codes, stores and expresses information in its own way.
Imagination is the beginning of creation. You imagine what you desire, you will what you imagine at last you create what you will.
― George Bernard Shaw
Visualisation techniques can help you pretty much in any area in your life. Most importantly, it is supposed to make you feel better and become more comfortable with any situation in your life. You can use visualisation to lower concerns in difficult situations, gain more confidence, build more inner strength, but also to find hope or courage in order to overcome challenges and fears. Furthermore, visualisation has been proven to have a remarkable effect on your body as it affects numerous activities such as your own brainwave patterns, blood pressure or also your immune system function. Some people have even successfully used visualisation techniques as an aid to recover from illnesses or injuries.
Dr Joe Dispenza would be one of the remarkable examples in this area, whose own research has already added tremendously to discover the possibilities of human consciousness. Due to an accident with his bicycle a couple of years ago, he had to stop with his research for a while. He broke his leg and would have had to undergo a lengthy treatment and would possibly still be left with chronic pains afterwards. However, he decided to challenge the science in his own case and tried to recover with the power of his thoughts. It actually worked for him, he can walk again and has not been suffering from any chronic pain. But he’s also dedicated his research more to the connection between the body and the thoughts since.
Of course, you should always seek the advice of your doctor, if you are suffering from any health conditions or experiencing pain. Once you know what has been causing your health condition, you can use visualisation as a support to heal, you may experience a healing probably even better and faster than without this nice supporting tool.
I am quite confident that even if you may not visualise knowingly or purposely, you are also visualising all the time. It depends on yourself really. The one is more prone to subconsciously switch on a movie in your mind’s eye than the other. One is more prone to literally constantly think in images, probably even with sound, the other is not.
But how do you do it? Try to observe your own thoughts for a moment and think of an event which has not happened yet, something which is still before you. It can be anything in this case, such as thinking about how you are going to shop for groceries later. You may realise that you start to observe yourself in your mind’s eye and somehow imagine how this sort of event is going to happen. You see how you are leaving your house, walking down the street, take your car or take a bus to the shop, get off, grab your essentials or whatever else you intend to get until you are queuing. Depending on the time of the day, it may be busy. Maybe it will not be busy. It is literally as if you were making your own movie, but only with your mind, about a future event.
Let’s try the same with another future event, such as maybe your next day at work. How is the day going to pass along in your thoughts? What do you expect is going to happen? Do you have an annoying co-worker or a boss that appears to be never fully satisfied with your work?
The average person is by default going to think of something negative occurring. Such as there will be a lot of traffic when you want to get some groceries or are on your way to work, maybe the shop is busy, the queue is going to be miles long again and you feel like it is taking ages
