Descriere

From the author of The Secret Life of Your Blood Sugar comes a practical guide to reversing type 2 diabetes.

If you are reading these lines, you want to reverse your diabetes. YOU Can Do It!
There are many reasons why well-meaning people, including your nearest and dearest, will do all they can to discourage you from trying to reverse your type 2 diabetes:
► They think that reversing diabetes may be possible, but they don’t believe that you have it in you to do it.
► They worry that you may harm yourself attempting it.
► They have tried to fight their own diabetes and have failed; so if you succeed, what will that say about them?
► They don’t believe that it can be done—not because they know anything you don’t know, but on the strength of unsupported generic statements they found on the web, or based on things they have “heard.”
► They are wary of the changes that you may have to make.

But in most cases, type 2 diabetes can be reversed, as you will learn if you read this book. To beat diabetes you need a program that is personalized, sustainable, and enjoyable. There is no “one size fits all” solution, and if you try to follow rules prescribed by the experts, you’re bound to fail.

This book will give you the tools you need to engineer your own solution, one that you can take for the long haul and feel good about, which will guide you on the path to reversing diabetes.

The Facts
This book is not a theoretical dissertation. It relates my personal experience. I started out with a startling 12.1% HbA1C and 312 mg/dl fasting glucose. Now, my HbA1C is 5.7% and my fasting glucose is in the 90s, without any diabetes medication.

You can do the same.
A word of warning: This book is not for you, if you expect to find a magic formula between its pages that will let you effortlessly solve your problem. It will tell you many things that you need to know; it will give you important information and will teach you how to use it to pursue your own solution. But no miracles are included. Getting well comes with hard work.

No Quick Fix
Reversal of type 2 diabetes is usually addressed by dieting. You have the diabetic cookbooks, which teach you how to eat with complicated and time-consuming recipes that are difficult to follow, particularly if you live a dynamic life. That's why you are likely to toss those cookbooks aside once you fail to live by them and your results are disappointing.

While eating right is a central component of every cure, it is not sufficient. To make it work, you must make a number of changes to your day, to the way in which you approach exercise, stress, and other factors. You need a plan that YOU can work with and which is right for YOU.

I have come up with a simple way to find the path that was right for me and I have collected in this book all the information you need to find your own.

Find out if you can reverse your diabetes
It only took me less than two weeks to realize that I was on the right path. Don't you want to find out if you can do it too? Not everybody can succeed. It takes strength of character and resolve to do it, but if you believe in yourself, you can reverse type 2 diabetes.

This is a very small investment in yourself - you will read this guide in one or two sittings and will see your progress in a matter of days. You will stop taking diabetes medications when you feel confident that you can do it, and will be amazed seeing your blood sugar stay low.

Fighting your disease instead of giving in to it is a big decision, so you shouldn't make it on the basis of this short explanation. Click the preview link of the book provided here and read the free pages with all the information they provide, and then make a decision. Whether you decide to buy the book or not, I sincerely hope that you will find your path to reversing your type 2 diabetes, YOUR WAY.

  • If you are not familiar with this ratio, what it means is that if you have a reading above 30 mg/g, you have a hidden kidney disease that, if left untreated, will destroy your kidneys. That is typical of diabetics.

  • You need to go intermittent.

  • Depending on your physical condition, you may find as I did that after about three months cardio training ceases to be a challenge and you are no longer able to reach high heart rates (85–90% of your maximum) that burn calories and fat.

  • That is one of the biggest no-nos. However, if you are a wine lover like myself, you can look forward to drinking a half glass of red wine at lunch or dinner, starting with the third stage.

  • It takes about two weeks to get used to drinking unsweetened coffee and tea, and the big bonus is that after you clean your taste buds of those chemicals your food starts to taste much better.

Introduction

Well-meaning people, including your nearest and dearest, will do all they can to discourage you from trying to reverse your type 2 diabetes. Don’t let them!

You can make it. Don’t you ever doubt it.

There are many reasons why people will act discouragingly; here are some of them:

► They think that reversing diabetes may be possible, but they don’t believe that you have it in you to do it.

► They worry that you may harm yourself attempting it.

► They have tried to fight their own diabetes and have failed, so if you succeed, what will that say about them?

► They don’t believe that it can be done—not because they know anything you don’t know, but on the strength of unsupported generic statements they found on the web or based on things they have heard.

► They are wary of the changes that you may have to make. We all hate changes.

In most cases, type 2 diabetes can be reversed, as you will learn if you read this book. I started out with an astronomic HbA1C (glycated hemoglobin¹) of 12.1 and a fasting glucose level of 312 mg/dl, and here I am, one year after I decided to discontinue treatment and to take matters into my own hands, with an HbA1C of 5.7 and a fasting glucose level in the 90s. And the best part is that I am enjoying life and eating well, including food that I worried that I could never touch again.

For example, to me, life without chocolate is meaningless. So one of my primary aims was to empower myself to eat chocolate again, which I now happily do (in moderation) often.

Was it easy, you will ask? No, it wasn’t. To succeed, you need to be determined and do the right things in the correct order. And to build up your determination, you must have all the available information that shows you that it can be done and how it can be done.

I must tell you straight out that I haven’t invented anything. All the information you need is out there, but not in a concentrated and easy-to-find manner—hence this book.

In my journey to beat diabetes, I have learned a lot, but the most precious lesson that I have learned is that the program you develop for yourself must be personalized, sustainable, and enjoyable. There is no one size fits all solution, and if you try to follow the rules prescribed by the experts, you’re bound to fail.

Those who have read and implemented the teachings of my earlier book, The Secret Life of Your Blood Sugar, have already done half of the work, and their diabetes should be under control, albeit not yet reversed. Part 1 of this book is based on those earlier finds, but I have used my latest experience to expand and elaborate on them.

This book will give you the tools you need to engineer your own solution, one that you can take for the long haul and feel good about, which will guide you on the path to reversing diabetes. So join me on this exciting trip to prove all those negative voices wrong.

¹ HbA1C, also referred to simply as A1C, is a form of hemoglobin that is measured primarily to identify the three-month average plasma glucose concentration.

PART 1

Taming Your Diabetes

Making positive changes to your body—for example, getting in shape—does not happen instantly. Reversing your diabetes will also take time and patience and a correct, gradual approach. In the first part of this book, we get rid of diabetes medication and prove to ourselves that we have great control over our body. That is Phase 1. To completely reverse diabetes, we then go to Phase 2, detailed in Part 2 of this book.

CHAPTER 1

A look at ourselves

Some people are good at looking the other way when their body tells them that something is wrong with them. I had been doing it successfully for quite some time, but come March of 2016, I could no longer ignore the fact that I wasn’t feeling well. My doctor recommended an extensive blood test, which came back on March 10 and ruined my day (and much of my life after that). My fasting plasma glucose level (FPG) (affectionately called blood sugar) was 312 mg/dl—way above the recommended level of 100—and my HbA1C (which tells you how your blood sugar level has been doing in the past three months or so) was at an astronomic 12.1% (the maximum recommended level of a healthy person being 5.7%).

With those numbers, I had to do something immediately, or I was in line for hideous diseases and premature death. My doctor immediately placed me on strong medication. As a result, only three months later, on June 21, 2016, my fasting blood sugar level had dropped to 138 mg/dl and my HbA1C to a mere 6%. That’s great, right? Wrong!

Fast forward eight months to February 14, 2017. My fasting blood sugar level had gone up to 157 mg/dl, and my HbA1C to 6.8%. The treatment’s efficacy was obviously diminishing, and I started to recall people telling me that you may end up injecting insulin once you start on the path of blood sugar medication. I wasn’t going to take that lying down.

When you become diabetic, you want to think that it is an Act of God, that you are not responsible for it. It’s just the world being mean to you. But while obviously, in some cases, diabetes may be due to your genetic makeup or to other causes over which you have no control, that’s untrue for most people. The reading and reasoning that I had done over the months since that fateful morning in March had convinced me that I had been causing it to myself with my own hands. I had been overeating and, what’s worse, eating the wrong kinds of food. I was overweight and wasn’t exercising enough. I reasoned that I might perhaps undo what I did to myself if I could just find and follow the right path.

It took me five more months to prove that I was right and that managing my blood sugar level without taking drugs was possible. After stopping taking medication altogether for three and a half months (after a thorough, responsible, and careful priming period), I took a new blood test on July 19, 2017. My fasting blood sugar was 102 mg/dl, and my HbA1C was 5.8%. I’ll say it again: I was taking no medication! If you read on, I’ll share my test results with you in detail.

I’m not going to tell you that what I did was easy and required no effort. But if you haven’t ruined your pancreas for good and you follow my example with perseverance and motivation, you may be able to accomplish the same result that I did, or even better. Hundreds of people that I know of have done the same. This appears to be the medical profession’s best-kept secret: You can rid yourself of type 2 diabetes in most cases.

That doesn’t mean that at that point, you will be able
