Ketogenic Instant Pot Cookbook - Sydney Foster

    Introduction

It can be hard to stay on a ketogenic diet when you live a busy life. After all, many people make the switch to live a happier, healthier them, and that isn’t possible if your lifestyle choice takes up all of your time. That’s where the instant pot comes in. The instant pot really can be for everyone! Just because you’re on the ketogenic diet doesn’t mean you can’t use this useful tool that cuts your cooking time in half or more! You can use the instant pot to make healthy, tasty meals in no time at all. When healthy, quick meals are an option, you’ll even find it easier to stick to your diet than ever before!

    Some Instant Pot Tips

Before you try various tasty recipes that are ketogenic friendly with your instant pot, it’s essential that you know how to cook with your instant pot properly to get the best results. That’s where this chapter comes in handy!

    Do Not Overfill It

It’s important that you use the minimum or maximize marks inside of your cooking pot. Do not ever exceed those, especially if you want to double a recipe or cut it in half. When you’re using liquid, make sure that you aren’t filling your instant pot more than halfway. If you fill your instant pot too much, it can lead to dangerous spills. However, if you don’t fill it enough you may damage your instant pot and your food will not cook properly.

Use the Right Time & Heat

The right time and the right heat are essential to cooking properly with your instant pot. Since instant pot recipes commonly use the pressure cooker function, which helps to make your food quick, you need to make sure that you always cook with the right heat. It’s a key element to a successful dish. Most recipes will require high heat, which you’ll want to push your manual button for. However, always check the heat of your recipe before you begin. The timing is also essential as well as knowing if you are going to use a quick pressure release or a natural pressure release.

    Brown Your Ingredients!

When cooking with a pressure cooker, your ingredients won’t brown. It’s important that if you want texture for your food, you’ll need to achieve that texture before you use the pressure cooker function. That’s where your sauté function will come in handy. If you feel a recipe doesn’t have the texture you want, try sautéing your ingredients before you try it again!

    Chop It Correctly

When you slice your food, you should try to slice it into even pieces when cooking in an instant pot. This is exceedingly important when you use the pressure cooker function. If your pieces are too large, they’ll cook slowly. If your pieces are too small, they’ll cook too quickly. This can cause your food to turn mushy. Usually a recipe will let you know how much to chop your food. If it doesn’t, then look at how long you’ll be cooking your food to see how small it should be.

    Be Careful With Pressure Release

When you use a quick pressure release, you’re going to stop the pressure from cooking any of your ingredients. However, when you’re using a natural pressure release the pressure releases gradually. Therefore, your food will still cook some during this time. When you want something to be more tender, try using a natural pressure release. Just keep in mind that this will add more time to your recipe. If you want something to hold its shape, then you’ll want to use a quick release. This will keep it from cooking too much. For example, with potato salad you’d want to use a quick release. For soups, a natural pressure release will usually be used. Each recipe should tell you what type of pressure release you’re using.

    Read the Manual

You should always read the manual before you start using your instant pot. Every instant pot will come with a manual, and it’ll teach you various terms, give you different tips, and keep you safe when releasing the pressure. It’s important that you do not try to release pressure from your device improperly.
