About the Author
Introduction
My first four poems were written in 1964/1965.1 turned 11 years old in December 1964 and was in the sixth grade. I’ve become a lot older since then, but I doubt I’ve become more intelligent.
I’ve arranged these poems, chronologically, so that in some small measure the Reader can encounter them in the order they were written in my life. For those of you who like to jump ahead, feel free to do so.
Hope you enjoy.

When I go Sailing
When I go sailing on my pond,
I have a feeling that I am far beyond,
Beyond the shores of the western sea,
Where many a man would wish he could be.
And when my vessel begins to float,
I stand at the stern of my little boat.
And I could sail forevermore
Towards my make believe far and distant shore.
Gerard A. Geiger, 1964

To shelter and provide for mortal man.
They grow tall and straight into the sky
And
