Don't You Know It's Rude to Stare
()
About this ebook
One family's struggle for the past twenty-six years with Neurofibromatosis, and how we have coped with it. Especially how we have dealt with and come to terms with it. Especially how we have dealt with and come to terms with other people's attitudes towards the syndrome and facial disfigurement. In the belief that our own personal experiences may encourage others in similar situations.
The author began to write this book with her husband and children ten years ago after a road traffic accident. She trusts that by sharing her own hopes and fears it will help others to understand and hopefully come to terms with their own situations.

NEUROFIBROMATOSIS
WHAT IS NEUROFIBROMATOSIS
BEYOND DIAGNOSIS
SOME PEOPLES ATTITUDES.
One Family’s Struggle with Neurofibromatosis. This book is dedicated to:
My son Peter whose Christian faith and courage is tremendous, My beloved husband Stuart, My daughter, Fiona, Peter, Lisa & Stacey who have been there for us, Our G.P. Dr. Ablaze Kailua.
All of Peter’s medical consultants.
The lads.
David White who designed the book cover as his gift to us. And for all who have prayed for us along the way. And last but not least my late grandmother who was known as Gran to all who knew her and was an inspiration to us all.
DEEP FAITH
Even though I was given the gift of a special child
and because of that gift my life was changed around completely, I can give thanks for the untold joy that has been mine in the gift of Peter.
Peter has a marvellous personality. His love of life shines through in all that he has done in the past and still does today. He makes friends easily and he has them by the score; especially the lads who bend over backwards to take him to the world super bikes at Donington Park and Brands Hatch. They say to me don’t worry mom we will take care of him!
Telling me that they know my unspoken thoughts and acknowledge my need by letting me know that it’s sorted and they are on the case
, and are protective of him.
Peter and many people like him who are challenged, has dug in there and has refused to give up. It has been harder and taken longer to learn or do things but he has got there in the end. Peter has a gift of putting people at ease in his company, and easily explains to young and old alike why he looks as he does.
In spite of or because of all the negative and positive experiences that life has thrown at him he has come out of his early experiences
