About this ebook
Shirley Graves
Shirley E. Winslow Graves was born in July 26, 1954 in Brooklyn, New York. She left New York and was moved to North Carolina to live in a little town called New Hope, North Carolina, where she was raised there by her mother Dollie M. Winslow Armstrong (deceased) and Father Herbert White (deceased). She attended a school there called Perquimans County School. She left there at the age of 12 years old and went to Waterbury, Connecticut to live with relatives, Mr. and Mrs. William Banks to continue her education. After graduating from high school she attended Mattatuck Community college in Waterbury, Connecticut, and Briarwood College in Southington, Connecticut. Growing up, she was raised in a church called Galatia Baptist Church, after moving to Waterbury Connecticut she moved her membership to Zion Baptist Church. As a teenager she sang on the young people’s choir, and worked on the junior missionary board. On the day of August 3, 1974, I was married to my husband, Charles R. Graves and had two beautiful children. My husband Charles joined the military and we decided I would remain in Waterbury, Connecticut so the children could stay and get their education. After that God took Shirley into the Apostolic teaching, and her membership was moved to Gospel Light Apostolic Church in Danbury, Connecticut, the Pastor of that great church is Pastor Glenn Dansby. She was even more hungry and thirsty for the word of God. After she became a member at Gospel Light Apostolic, Pastor Dansby planted a seed into her life that seed continuously grew day by day until it was fully nourished. In April 6, 1996 my husband received military orders to move to Charleston area. Then I moved my membership to Full Gospel Ministry under the leadership Pastor Clifford Whitfield and then under Pastor Benjamin Broughton Heavenly Hope Christian Center, my seed was further watered. Now God has really Increase her and brought her and her husband Charles to a land of milk and honey where they now attend church at New Bethel Sounds of Praise Pentecostal Fellowship Ministries, and attended and graduated with an Associates in Christian Education and a Bachelor of Science degree in Theology from Grace Hill Bible College under the leadership of Visionaries Apostle Allen H. & Honorable Lady Jan Simmons. Now Shirley serves as Pastor over the Intercessor Prayer Team. In her life we can truly say God did it for her. Amen.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
FOREWORD
Intercession is the kind of prayer that moves the heart of God. When the people of God intercede for each other, needs are met, lives are changed, and people are drawn closer together. What is intercession? It is a prayer that pleads with God: it involves taking a hold of God’s will and refusing to let go until his will comes to pass. A family member faces a deadly disease; your neighbor just lost a loved one; your family is in desperate need of Jesus; someone is facing a divorce; someone just lost their job, which was the only income in the home; all of these cases are things much too large for us to handle. But, what do we do? It’s times like these when we need to turn to the Lord in intercessory prayer.
Getting your Knees Right, is a book written by a very special daughter of mine, Elder Shirley Graves. She is one who has exemplified the intercessory prayer lifestyle. I have watched her grow to become an extremely seasoned and faithful prayer warrior. She has been knocked aside, talked about, misunderstood, and has faced many trials and disappointments in her life, yet because of her prayer life she has stood every test, because God heard her prayers. God speaks to us through his Word but, we talk to him through prayer. In talking to and with him, we show him our faith, which in turn moves him to act on our behalf.
I am confident that this book is going to be a special blessing in the lives of believers across the globe. May everyone that reads this book receive God’s power and presence as He releases his awesome power upon their live.
Bishop Allen H. Simmons, D.D.,
Chief Apostle of Sounds of Praise Pentecostal Fellowship Ministries, Inc.
And Senior Pastor of Greater New Bethel Sounds of Praise

WORDS OF ENCOURAGEMENT FROM THE AUTHOR
I have been so thankful, and grateful, to our God for giving me the grace and mercy to bring His Word, to spread abroad the good news, to reach people day-to-day and to speak life to a dead situation. I thank God for the many testimonies to believe and to receive, for interceding and communicating with the Father. I pray that this book will help you believe and receive, for you to get an answer that you need in your prayers from God. As you know, all Scriptures point directly to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, in whom we have a foundation being rooted and grounded in love in helping us to stay focused on God. In reading this book, my purpose is to ensure that the words that are written will encourage you to continue reading and studying the word of God. Be diligent and know that God is always in control. In this book there is a purpose to prepare us for in season and out of season, to always be ready to serve God in any situation, whether or not it is convenient to be used by yourself or for others. All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works. (2 Tim 3:16-17).
The words that you read from this book will keep your spirit clean and allow the Holy Spirit to dwell deep inside of you, and also it will give you clean hands, a clean heart, and a renewed spirit.
Once you start getting into the word of God, it will convict you and come alive with power, for the anointing will destroy the yokes and move burdens in your life. The word is sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of thoughts and intents of the heart. (Hebrews 4:12) Being a great Intercessor and Prayer Warrior is communicating and fellowshipping with the Father, having a vital personal relationship with God interceding on someone else behalf. Getting Your Knees Right with the Father will help you have a greater impact for the Kingdom to continue to intercede for your leaders, sisters and brothers in Christ, families, neighbors, and show love for one another. Get ready for God to show up and show out in 2011 Getting Your Knees Right.

Interceding and communicating with the Father
Praying in the Spirit on your Knees
O Heavenly Father, I come with thanksgiving on my lips, just to tell you thank you for being a wonderful and almighty God. When I am down on my knees I’m asking you please, I’m calling you and calling your name. You said you never leave me nor forsake me, you said you will be with me until the end of the world. In your precious name Lord, fill me with your Holy Spirit. Father, when I am kneeling down on my knees I’m asking you to please help me to get through all pains, hurts, and tribulations. Father, I thank
