ACKNOWLEDGMENTS
Firstly and foremost, I’d like to thank my Lord and God, Jesus Christ. He made me as I am. He led me through my trials and struggles with my weight for the purpose of writing this book. I have hope and pray He will bless all the readers, and put them on their own personal road to great health and an even better quality of life. Thank you for the journey, Lord.
Secondly, much thanks goes to my brilliant and straightforward editor, Roberta J. Buland of Right Words Unlimited. Roberta, you gave me the confidence not only to continue writing in my own voice with your expert corrections, but to self publish because you told me that I really can make a difference in people’s lives for their betterment. This book owes itself to you! Thank you.
Thirdly, I’d like to thank my husband, Alan, my exercise buddy and recipe guinea pig. Thank you for allowing me the time and privacy to make this book a reality, and especially for encouraging and even nagging me to get up and exercise. But most of all, thank you for believing in me to one day succeed. I love you forever, Pumpkin!
Finally, to all my readers. You have taken a chance on me and on yourselves because you still have a smoldering ember in your hearts to succeed in your challenges with weight. Thank you for believing in yourselves!
Now take the next logical step to succeed and believe that God through Christ wants to make you healthy and whole in body, mind and spirit. FOREWORD
This book was written because I care about you and all that you’re going through with your weight and eating challenges. I’ve lived with the same challenges for over four decades.
My name is Aerynne Janaeyne Aiudi. I am a certified personal trainer and nutritional specialist, having studied at home and received my Distance Education Training Certification, (DETC) from the US Career Institute in Colorado. I am also APEX supplement certified having worked and received certification at WOW! Fitness in West Hartford, Connecticut. Finally, I have certificates in CPR, AED and stretching from Bally Total Fitness in West Hartford, Connecticut.
When I was twelve years old, I acknowledged that I was grossly overweight and unattractive. I was part of the aerobics craze of the 1980s when I began privately reading and studying about fitness and nutrition. While at New York University, I began to exercise and eat more healthily. However, when I was hospitalized for exhaustion and postpartum depression in 1985, all my efforts to be healthy were abandoned. I battled anxiety and depression until 2007, when I was placed on a medicine that began to ease my suffering. It helped me to focus and function to the point where I began to lose all the weight I had gained over the twenty-three years before.
This book is dedicated to all who struggle with weight challenges and self-esteem issues. But it is especially dedicated to all the mental health patients like me who live on fixed incomes and can’t readily afford pricey gyms, most personal trainers, up-to-date equipment and costly unaffordable organic ingredients.
One trick to begin your journey is to be conscious of serving sizes written on the containers of the foods prior to cooking and serving them. In four years of being aware of how much I was taking in and how much I was burning off calorie-wise, I have already lost almost sixty pounds.
Faith, consistency, determination, perseverance and patience with myself as well as flexibility were the main keys to losing my weight. The journey that you’ve embarked upon by purchasing this book requires you to adopt the same character traits. The road ahead will see periods of frustration, but ultimately you will achieve success! When you’ve had a setback, get back
