About the Author
Chapter 1
A high school girl
Sofia Heart is a 16-year old girl. Sofia uses her big brown bag to bring all the clothes that she designs, sews and sells. Doing it all on her own, she has limited number of clothes available for sale. She has been taking sewing class since last year. With long brunet hair, brown eyes, and a beautiful smile. She is 5 feet and 5 inches and weighs about 115 pound. She is a lonely child who lives with her parents.
Sofia’s father, Sandy Heart is successful architect and Sofia’s mother, Anya Heart is housewife who is dedicates one, she is like a friend, sister, and best friend for Sofia. Her mom is smart, creative, positive thinking, fun to be with, understanding and open-minded. She is also very healthy person. Her mom is a person who is able to enjoy every situation in front of her. She always thinks about the solution in every circumstance, and doesn’t like to blame other person. For Sofia, she is a good role model, when she becomes a mom, Sofia want to be as wise as her mom. So the kids will be closes to her, just the way Sofia closes to her mom. Sofia is a fashion designer who makes her own design & clothes who has limited market. She is waiting for an opportunity.
Sofia’s clothing came from three sources. First are those that she made based on custom orders, they are limited and more expensive that the two kinds. Still are more affordable than store items, for example her popular upper knee length sack dress is marked for $ 40. Second type are those that she purchases from a garment factory runs by her family. Lastly are those that she digs out of her own closet and modifies to create a new style. She never fails to clarify to her consumer that those clothes are used.
Sofia looks for long lasting relationships, with her consumer, she treats them like friends and tries to find out what they need. She always gives honest opinion and often encourages them to try new style. She tries to put herself in their shoes and treats them the way she wants to be treated. When we buy clothes from her, she shares styling advice that fit each customer’s character. As a fashion observes, Sofia knows a lot about new trends and what’s in, hip and cool. More than just selling clothes, and providing fashion advice, Sofia gives personal support to those on her path that may need emotional boost. She is a supporter girl too, when she finds one of them with low self-esteem. She is so cool, pretty but humbles enough to respect others. One of the reasons, why she is so popular as ‘a girl with her Big Brown Bag.’
Today, Sofia rises early in the morning with a big smile on her thin lips. She does the ritual morning relaxing, while her sitting on the toilet bowl, she is reading a book on the paragraph, ‘God creates every woman pretty and beautiful as the way they are. God completes each woman with stronger personality than men. One of the evidences is 9-month pregnancy as the special privilege, only women can have. Woman is one of God special creation, that’s why God created a woman in the last day, and woman more complicated compare to man. God created a woman to become a helper for a man, which also means that the helper has to be stronger, that the one receiving help. It is a blessing to be a woman. We have to respect ourselves, and with that kind of attitude we give thanks to God.’
God save the best for last. Sofia understands this, and she respects herself by maintaining neat, tidy and fresh physical appearance. You don’t have to be fashionable or go all out to collect expensive wardrobe but it is important to maintain proper grooming. With that in mind, building inner beauty is more important, than focusing on the outside appearance. No matter how good you look, time will wither it away but beautiful person has a beautiful heart. Physical beauty could be a curse, without the right understanding and certain wisdom about life. Woman, who focuses solely on the outward appearance, may fall under its spell. She may have a hard time, to see a sincerity of a man that seeks her just for her physical attraction. Women with average good looks, and understand how to nurture their inner beauty, since it will glow from the inside and make them shine. Despite all this hypes about inner beauty, looking nice does not betray the basic guidance of common courtesy, and to be attractive to both men and women. Men, in general, are more visual than women and use their eyes to decide how they like the person or not. It is an important start that will follow by showing the inner beauty that you have. It takes time to know another person, especially when you want to dig deeper than just the surface. Once again, don’t worry, if a woman has what the world says as just average look, it is actually a blessing. The inner beauty can come from the value of life, skill and talent. One advice that never fails is to learn to be a good listener and a caring person. She agrees with this concept and ready to deal with it.
Honestly, to accept that concept, and especially to deal with it, it takes years and pains for Sofia. For some time, Sofia was mad at God for what happened in her past. She thought that God was unfair and wasn’t good to her, unlike what her Sunday school’s teacher had been teaching her. Sofia always thought that she was just an average girl because of her pimples all over her face and she was a poor girl. Sofia grew up with low self-esteem.
She started to have some pimples ever since she was around 10 years old, they are big, hard and red like peanuts. They were disgusting and she hated it so much, the worse part was, the pimples grew like a group, a group in her right cheek and left, her nose, and her forehead. One of the reasons that she kept bangs is to cover the pimples. With such hairstyle, long thin plan brunet with bangs, she looked like an old lady and instead of an attractive young girl. In the middle of a crowd, she wished to disappear, because she felt uncomfortable. Every time some people stared at her face. So many times, she heard some girls giggled and talked about her or even yelled condescending words to her while the boys made jokes at her expense. These ridicules hurt her so much that she often thought about escaping school but she remembered that her parents sacrificed so much for her to give her the best in everything. She struggled with herself to stay in school as much as possible. Many times Sofia cried in the middle of the night, asked God to save her from this torturous time. She yelled and was so mad at God for giving her such an ugly face.
She made many useless efforts to cure the pimples and was in utter despair but her mom continued to keep her spirit and brought her to a number of dermatologists. Her mom used her honor from the part time as a freelance translator at some local newspaper to heal
