Questions of a Young Man's Heart - Joshua Mendoza
The Mind’s Repetition
A new beginning to a
Repetitive end.
I know what TO EXPECT,
FOR REPETITION DON’T BEND.
I COULD SEE MYSELF TRYING,
ALL THE TIME THAT I’LL WASTE.
Then I put myself in a situation
Sticky as paste.
So why do these things always
Happen out of the blue?
How things would be different
if earlier I knew.
I can’t help but wonder
Why I’m continuously tested.
My mind running overtime,
Completely unrested . . .
Dance with the Demons
T he clock strikes 12 and the dance
begins. It’s not forgiving, only adding to
sins.
It starts with a waltz, as the demon
Takes women’s form.
The temperature higher than ever
In a flaming, fiery storm.
The lust for her is as seducing
As can be.
Her eyes literally burning a hole
Deep inside of me.
And just like that, every emotion
Is gone.
A mindless zombie,
I’ve become her pawn.
Whatever she wants,
I do at will.
She plays with my mind
Before going for the kill.
Her puppets just watch
As she pulls every string attached.
Her control is too strong,
My will is no match.
No more will I fight
For my will belongs to her.
As I try to figure out the faces,
Everything’s a blur . . .
One by one
The demons take the floor,
Then give me a look
Telling me she wants more.
Though at this moment all
I have is my soul.
My heart had disappeared
When she burned that hole.
So she takes my soul,
Which she does with ease.
Falling to the ground,
She leaves very pleased.
She walks over to another demon
In the form of a man.
It becomes very obvious
That this is his clan.
She hands everything she took
Over to him.
He laughs real sinister
And his face fills with grim.
What she did to me,
She does over and over again.
Everybody, now losing their life
To sin.
It happens so fast.
As people drop like flies.
Expected silence,
Is now agonized cries.
Because I didn’t think it was
Wrong I wonder,
Who will remember me?
As my body helplessly
Floats
Down the fierce and fiery sea.
Down
An optimistic child
Who had everything great.
Anything was possible
And never too late.
A survivor of plenty,
Too much to explain.
Always let his pain and doubt
Wash away in the rain.
