    Chapter 1

    INTRODUCTION

We’r back here again because new offenses have been committed, and you face sentencing on all these charges then the past ones and the new ones altogether at one time.

    Your Honor, the defendant intervened.

    The Judge interrupted and continued.

"The court has to consider 3 factors, that is the gravity of the offense, character of the accused… because that leads us into the assessment of your risk to the community… finally, to protection of the public, what we have to do in order to make sure the public itself is protected from you and your activities. The gravity of the offense, when I look at it, there are various types of controlled substance violations. In 07-cf-677 it was a controlled buy for some marijuana; in 08-cf-237 it was a controlled buy to an undercover agent of cocaine, so they’re all of the same nature, however, the one that really attracts the courts attention, as it does the community, is the armed burglary and the false imprisonment charges.

"That’s going to be rather serious, when you break into somebody’s home pointing a gun around, they are scared and believe you may cause great bodily harm or even death.

Now given your juvenile record and why you are in front of this court today I have to take this issue rather serious. You are young, however you have a very extensive history, as a juvenile you committed Armed Robbery, Reckless endangerment, Battery, some of those were very serious offenses and you are back here today as a result of heading down the same path. You have no ties to the community, you are not married, have no children, so you have nothing to think about, nothing binds you to the community, you know, that’s very concerning for me. You already received a slap on the hand and was given probation, you violated that. Your character, the gravity of the offense, and the punishment are 3 things I need to go by. The community needs to forgive and forget, Mr. Tallman, I am hereby sentencing you to 17 years; 7 years imprisonment and 10 years extensive supervision.

Dylan’s heart began palpitating, his face turned pallid, he procured a paltry feeling of himself, worthless, he wanted to repel the sentence just handed to him, however, knew it was impossible. Where were his boys now? In time of need of succor. He halfway gathered himself from a shock, and rose to his feet, and began taking Baby steps in his rather tight shackles.

Mom they laid me down, I want you to be strong, I love you. They got me mom it’s over for me for now, this is real and I’m so sorry.

Dylan deplored to his mother with tears leaving his eyes.

My apologies for breaking down in front of y’all, my intentions are to be strong but my youth was just taken from me, I’ll see y’all when I get older. Crystal tell my baby niece’s I love them. Jerry; marry that girl. Chris; stay outta jail. Look at me for an example. Mom keep me in your mind and heart. I love all of you. He was then accommodated out of the courtroom, while his family sobbed; Carrie cried in agony and screamed at the District Attorney as she collapsed to her knees; his older brother and sister were shocked, their little brother was gone for 7 years.

Lord forgive me for I have sinned and if your listening, give me the strength to do this time. Dylan said out loud while entering the elevator to the jail while being held by each arm from guards. They just gave him an intricate look and went about their business. Dylan put his head down and did not lift it for a long time. His present, future, now ruined, dreams and goals crushed he had thought his life was over before it began. This life is over, however, life goes on. He again spoke out loud, and one of the guards nodded in agreement.

    A few years later… .

That flow was hot, Bo said to Ahsonek, who made the beat shook his head in agreement. Lil-D you keep it up and you’ll be tearing up YellowWolf or somebody soon.

You keep these beats up bro you’ll be the next DJ Kalid. Dylan explained to Ahsonek.

Yea, in 9 years I got you, paroles on a bunch of b.s. Ahsonek replied cynically.

I’m already on the map, it’s grind now shine later for y’all, your either with me or against the grain. Bo explained confidently. Also known as Ronnie Bo, Mr. Ronnie Bo is an international Hip Hop icon whom was incarcerated as soon as he started to blow up. He put in all the work and missed out on the glory, however, he still made articles in Swiss Money and The Source magazines from in the joint and has successfully published two books; he was Lil’D’s best friend and inspiration. Lil-D, also known as Dylan Tallman is also a Hip Hop artist whom was incarcerated before encountering the opportunity to blow up at all. HE had just started to become noticed by a record label before his incarceration and he had only had a demo recorded. The plan was to record an album and start performing everywhere and link up with a record label, however he unfortunately lost his freedom right after track one; his introduction.

Ronnie Bo report to the sereant station; immediately. Said an officer over the loud speaker.

They already banned my book from this joint, and took all my lyrics: what now? Bo complained.

They can’t hold us forever, never let these people throw you off your square. Dylan advised.

If y’all are locked up at your worst and you still seem to attract haters, then do your thang. Your doing something right, if they weren’t sweating you, you’d be in the wrong, you feel me?! Ahsonek exclaimed.

After the prison studio session in the chow hall, Dylan returned to his cell for count and began doing what he did best, he started writing in his journal, away of dealing with his emotions considering his impassiveness.

"I have not yet eaten, nor have I eaten yesterday, I am hungry, however, this food is no longer appealing. My hunger is stronger for freedom, so I currently starve. Once again no mail in my box, as far as the phone no money online, my existence, the awareness of my presence is slowly vanishing like boiling water, because nothing is currently cooking. I have rectified my demeanor, though I still remain recrudesce in society for an unfair remainder yet. I also remain a full cup, not made of glass because I may never be broken, I may as well use the weight equipment to commonly grow strength with the rest of me that is only growing stronger. Every tragic moment creates strength like fuel to a fire, I currently burn, however, grow stronger as a result, everyday greatness and weakness falls while I rise above, life is a struggle and healed wounds is progress.—Dylan Tallman/Lil-D.

All you could hear from the dayroom was people arguing over cards; banging; rapping; people screaming about how they’re killers and had big rims and money on the streets; homosexual talk; and correction officer’s making announcements over the loud speaker: this was everyday.

Dylan thought to himself, I have been locked up 4 years almost, there are no studios in here, everybody forgot about me. I have nobody, nothing; I’m beginning to just fade away with my existence. He began reminiscing, (knocking) he came back to reality and noticed Ronnie Bo at his door.

What the hell you in here thinking about? Bo asked
