About this ebook

This book is about understanding of the self and knowing our conditioning, our values, our relationships and then finding what we are without all that. An understanding of the self then makes one aware that what we think we are is nothing but our conditioning and the images of the past. A realization of this illusion leads one to compassion and a different outlook to life. This book is about me questioning various aspects of my life in all honesty and putting down my thoughts.

    MY GRATITUDE

I express my gratitude to my parents Gurcharan Singh Kent and Jagjeet Kaur Kent for providing us with a non-religious and non-conditioning environment when we were growing up. I was permitted to look at life without any prejudice. I am indebted to my wife, Vaty, for her support and who also ensured that my ego was always kept in check. I thank my sisters Hem and Kiran, my two children Neha and Nikhil, my nephew Christopher and my niece Nidhi for being part of my life and contributing to my happiness. My special thanks to Marek Lepkowski, Ranjit Bhambri and Indira Bhambri.

    PREFACE

Life can only be understood by living it. Most of us are too scared to live, choosing instead to exist by following the lives of others, merely imitating and conforming. Our lives seem to be directed by others to seek goals defined by society rather than following our natural instincts and tendencies. We seem to shackle ourselves and then find it very hard to break out, putting ourselves in the hands of destiny and fate, accepting life without making any
