    APPRECIATION

I appreciate God’s kindness for ordaining me as a Paper-pulpit Pastor/Bible Preacher by Publication in my lifetime, and giving me wisdom and courage for this discourse. I thank my late earthly father for the love and understanding he sowed in me since my childhood.

I thank Cletus Okuguni and Doris Okocha for all editorial support while full responsibilities for all remaining errors, if any, are mine. God bless Pastor Emmanuel Bolarinwa, pioneer pastor of Hour of Change Ministries and his family.

    INTRODUCTION

Prayer is a communication channel through which man reach God during his lifetime. Jesus can be said to have personalised the Garden of Gethsemane as his special place of prayer outside the Temple in Jerusalem. He also went to other places to pray at different times. Solomon’s temple dedication prayer and God’s response means that wherever is dedicated to God’s worship is appropriate prayer place. Solomon gave all sorts of scenarios under which God should answer the people’s prayer and He promised to do all. However, subjecting His answers to obedience means that wherever there is concealed or visible sinfulness is not conducive for profitable prayerfulness.

One of the logical arguments emphasising prayers is the fact that much as John 1 confirms that Jesus is God, and several evidences confirm His imminent birth much earlier, He yet lived a powerful prayer life, particularly during the three and half years He ministered in the flesh on earth. If Jesus prayed while He was in the flesh then we have no excuse. Interestingly, He is yet interceding for mankind at the right hand side of God; it is as if He will not cease praying until His second coming to consummate what He began during his first coming. This simply means that prayer is the key and the master key that God has given to us as believers. Meanwhile, since God will not answer those who regard iniquity in their hearts, it means that holiness, obedience, sanctity, humility and righteousness are prerequisites to profitable prayers. It is the effectual fervent prayers of the righteous that avails or gets God’s answer powerfully. God answered Elijah’s seven (hour per) session prayers for rain because he was righteous, and he prayed according to God’s plan for the land of Israel for the moment. We say per hour because Matthew 26:38-46, Mark 14:32-42 and Luke 22:39-46 say that Jesus prayed an hour per session for three hours at the Garden of Gethsemane. Just as Jesus admonished that we pray ceaselessly, so His intercession for us in heaven confirms that He is ‘practising’ what He recommended for our benefit while here on earth.

    CHAPTER ONE

    Wherever you are per time

About Daniel’s prayer location while in Babylon, Daniel 6:10 reports that:

10 When Daniel learned that the order had been signed, he went home. In an upstairs room of his house there were windows that faced toward Jerusalem. There, just as he had always done, he knelt down at the open windows and prayed to God three times a day. (TEV)

When Daniel opened his window towards Jerusalem, he merely followed the pattern Solomon indicated while dedicating the Temple in Jerusalem. I Kings 8:22-53 and II Chronicles 6:12-42 say Solomon asked that either within or outside the Temple, any prayer offered to God bearing His faithfulness to His covenant to Abraham and His Temple, God should answer. God answered Solomon’s prayer with the fact that He agrees with everything that Solomon asked concerning the Temple as a place of prayer. This means that any place/location could serve as a place of prayer, provided the petitioner has faith in the God that is worshipped at the Temple in Jerusalem. Solomon asked that wherever a man realizes that he or she has a need and seeks God’s help, God should not hesitate to answer. I Kings 8:22-53 and 11:4-13 say:

²² Then in the presence of the people Solomon went and stood in front of the altar, where he raised his arms ²³ and prayed, "LORD God of Israel, there is no god like you in heaven above or on earth below! You keep your covenant with your people and show them your love when they live in wholehearted obedience to you. ²⁴ You have kept the promise you made to my father David; today every word has been fulfilled. ²⁵ And now, LORD God of Israel, I pray that you will also keep the other promise you made to my father when you told him that there would always be one of his descendants ruling as king of Israel, provided they obeyed you as carefully as he did. ²⁶ So now, O God of Israel,
