    Chapter 1: What Is Transcendental Meditation?

    Transcendental meditation is a technique that can be used to avoid negative or distracting thoughts while promoting a state of relaxed awareness. Someone who is practicing transcendental meditation is going to sit in a position that is comfortable with their eyes closed and then repeats a mantra. The mantra can be a word or a sound that will be used to keep your focus on that concentration. You can also concentrate on a visual, on counting, or on your deep breathing.
