- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I am a fan of Debbie Tung's work and this particular title, Book Love, spoke directly to me as a book lover. Not just a voracious reader but a lover of books, the physical objects themselves. Most book lovers, as described above, will see themselves in many of these comics. People who are mostly readers while liking books won't be left out since the comics span the range of definitions of book love. In fact, friends and relatives of readers and book lovers will get a kick out of these since it lets them know that their loved ones aren't strange, well, aren't alone in their strangeness.I also admit that books like this will usually get 5 stars from me for a couple reasons (and if they don't get 5 stars they will likely get 1 or 2). The main reason, and the only one that I will mention, is that they are usually straightforward about what they are and they deliver it. If a reader looks at a couple of comics, or is familiar with the author, then they will be satisfied with the book. My ratings are only part whether I like or dislike a book. It is also about whether I think the book delivers on what it promises. Collections of comics by known writers/illustrators rarely have a disconnect between promise and what is delivered, so 5 stars for most. This book will especially speak to readers and book lovers, we have some of the same idiosyncrasies and are also aware of how many people look at us. So when these comics poke fun at both ourselves and those looking at us like we're nuts, we can't help but nod and laugh. And share them with everyone we know. Reviewed from an ARC made available by the publisher via NetGalley.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5A collection of Tung's comics all centering around books and the reading life. A quick delight. I love Tung's work.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Lovers of the Written Word Unite and be prepared to giggle!! This is an adorable, accurate, witty, poignant, highly enjoyable and most of all relatable comic style read. These comics spoke directly to the ardent bibliophile in me as I am sure it will do for you. I often found myself nodding along in silent agreement/enjoyment and feeling seen/understood/spoken up for. It was humorous and, as a fervent lover of literature, I was thrilled to have the chance to read this book. The holidays are almost upon us and I believe this to be a cute gift for the bibliophiles in your life.~Enjoy!*** I was given a copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review ***
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5This is the perfect book for book lovers! The author and illustrator has perfectly captured the life of a bookworm in a series of black and white cartoon panels and illustrations. I could definitely agree with her thoughts. The book brought me lots of laughs and was quite a lighthearted diversion on a cold and gloomy day. Recommended for all book lovers. Their families would probably enjoy it and get a good laugh too.I received this book from the publisher and from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. The opinions expressed here are entirely my own.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5As one who lives in a constant state of book fever, it is waaay too easy for me to relate to so many of the strips in this collection. For book lovers only; others will only shake their heads in bewilderment.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Book Love by Debbie Tung is a 2019 Andrews McMeel Publishing publication. This adorable book is about me. This is me- well with a few slight exceptions. But, basically, if your life revolves around books- If you live them, breathe them, inhale them, hug them, collect them, share them, quote from them…. Etc, Etc. - This book is for you. This book isn’t a story, it doesn’t have a plot, per se. It is basically a special gift for book lovers, a celebration and homage to books and book nerds. The comic drawings are not overly dramatic, but the expressiveness is what jumps out at you. The passion, the defensiveness and protectiveness towards books and our obsession with them, and the familiar frustration with people who just don't 'get it', resonated with me one hundred percent. I laughed so hard at the dialogue because I’ve said or done these things- often. I have had variations of these arguments and conversations and have had the exact same reactions, thoughts and feelings, at one time or another. The only difference for me is that I've been known to hug my Kindle in the same way I hug a print copy book. This happens more and more often now that I really have come to depend on that large font size- but, I understood the sentiment, all the same. This book is short and sweet and so easy to relate to. You will see yourself in this book and appreciate the nod to book lovers, and may even experience a feeling of vindication, knowing that you are in good company. This book soothes my introverted soul in ways that may make my eyes leak just a little. What I can say for sure, is that Debbie Tung is my kind of people. I may not know her personally, but I think she may know me. 5 Amazing Book Nerd Stars!!!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5If you've read Quiet Girl in a Noisy World, you will be familiar with the style and illustrations of this book. The focus of the book is on the love of everything bookish. One of my favorite illustrations is about speaking in literary quotes--I'm guilty of that! I also loved the page titled "Memoirs I Could Write" and one of those being "To All the Books I Bought But Never Read". I think book lovers everywhere will be able to relate. I received a free copy from netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Cartoonist Debbie Tung's book will be adored by bibliophiles everywhere. It's not really a graphic novel. It's more of a collection of thoughts on books and reading with some of them serialized over several pages. It makes a perfect gift for the book lover. I received an electronic copy of the book from the publisher through NetGalley with the expectation of an honest review.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Books are life and this spoke to my bookwormy soul! Almost as if I had a stalker who documented the favourite parts of my life into a book. I'm sure every other bibliophile will feel the same! I snorted out loud lots, in relatability and even shed a tear (or two) as I realised just how much books have shaped my life.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I loved this book. A great book telling most of everything about a bookish guy.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Why I Read This:
1) I just finished Quiet Girl in a Noisy World
2) It's about books! (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*:・゚✧
3) I'm becoming a fan of Debbie Tung's works.
In General:
It was sublime. (~_~) I know I would subscribe to this if it were a Webtoon.
My Experience:
So I learnt from my mistake from reading her previous work on the Scribd app on my smartphone. Instead, I read it on my laptop. (* ^ ω ^) So no more squinting and full appreciation of the panels. (o´▽`o)
I'll admit that I didn't relate to all of the moments shared by Debbie, probably due to my financial lack to even buy books regularly. However, I suppose I might have if I could build a library like her.
Opinion:
I think bibliophiles will enjoy this.
Maybe not all readers might relate to this as the medium is strictly books. So for those that enjoy listening to audiobooks or reading from e-readers. A lot of the instances shared here might go over one's head. - Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5One of those books that you just want to hug and say thank you for being you ? a must read for all readers.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5It's no surprise that this book is an enjoyable & relatable read for a fellow reader like me. The cute & simple illustrations also quite nice on the eyes. That being said, there's nothing really new or special here to make me rate this book higher. I must admit that some panels make me feel quite reflective because I realize that my attitude as a reader change quite dramatically from a few years ago. I truly feel this when I read the panel about ebook "versus" physical book. Me from three years ago is super sceptical about reading through gadget. Behold! Three years later, I am all about ebook & only buy physical copy of my all-time-favorite read. Wild honestly.
