      Introduction

      A lot of writers (and you can include wannabe writers) started out as under the covers readers with a ton of books they loved reading from authors they adored. They often wished that they were as talented as these masters of the pen. That thought has crossed the mind of book lovers everywhere – but only a few have mustered the courage to actually pick up a pen (or in the modern sense a keyboard) and craft their masterpieces.

      If you are in that sort of dilemma, then this book might just be book that will give you that light push in the right direction. Well, if it is in the right direction, then it might as well be a push right off the side of the ledge for good measure.

      This book is all about writing your first novel.

      Will that novel be an instant best seller? Maybe not… but if you’re lucky maybe it will. However, do take note that by the time best-selling authors have written their masterworks they have written about a thousand other pages that didn’t get published. Well, we don’t know what will really happen to your work.

      But the important thing here is that you have made your first step – your first novel. And you know what they say about long journeys: it always starts with the first step (or some such smart aleck piece of wisdom along those lines).
