    The Liver

    The liver is a glandular organ of the body, located at the upper right-hand position below the diaphragm; it is protected by the ribs. The upper part of the liver is located close to the nipples and the lower part close to the stomach.The liver is one of the most versatile organs with a range of functions, although still being explored, there are about 400 functions associated with the liver, the major functions include;

    The production of Bile: Bile is a green substance which helps the small intestine in the breakdown and digestion of fats, vitamins and cholesterol.

    Albumin Production:  This is one of the most common protein contained in the blood serum. It transports steroid hormones and fatty acid to help regulate blood pressure and prevent the leaking of blood vessels

    Fat Metabolizing: Through the creation of Bile, fats are broken down and become easier to digest.

    Carbohydrates Metabolizing: When carbohydrates are broken down into glucose, they are stored in the liver as glycogen and transported throughout the body whenever a quick burst of energy is needed. They also help maintain normal glucose levels in the bloodstream
