About this ebook
The last thing Dursus remembered was Brutus' sword biting into his leg...until he awakened in a strange room and certainly not in Ancient Rome.
Mike Dinsmore, a veterinarian, hears a scream and discovers a strange man bleeding profusely in his study. He binds the wound, applies all of his medical knowledge, and nurses the unconscious man back to life. When the man recognizes the broken gladius in Mike's possession, he realizes that like his friends, a gladiator has come through time for him.
But Dursus is missing a leg and needs to learn to walk, and to live again. Can he do so with Mike by his side?

The horrific scream pulled Mike from his bed. Thankful he wore sweats to bed in deference to the chilly October morning, he grabbed his go bag and raced down the hall to the source of the sound—his guest bedroom. The logistics of why a man screamed in uncontrollable pain in his house escaped him. When he’d gone to bed, he’d been alone and had been for a very long time. He ran into the room and stopped at the half-naked man, his right leg a bloody stump.
Military training kicked into gear. Don’t ask questions, just triage the wound. He dropped his bag, following close behind to kneel beside the man. I’m Dr. Dinsmore. You’re safe.
Wherever this man had come from, he clearly hadn’t been safe. The Roman-style armor bore scratches and scorch marks. His skin was marred with scars, both new and healed. Quickly, he tied off the man’s stump with a tourniquet and put a padded towel underneath the stump and wrapped a second around the end. It looked like a clean break. Some cautery to stop the bleeding, and shit—he didn’t have that kind of material here in the house. It was in his truck. Now was not the time to mention he was a veterinarian. The general mechanics of treating livestock or humans in this case weren’t dissimilar. Control the bleeding. Avoid shock. He grabbed a thick blanket and tossed it over the man.
Fabius?
The man groaned.
Stay with me. I’ll be right back.
He glanced at the tan carpet, no doubt it’d need a complete replacement. How did someone explain a massive blood stain
