    BOOK OVERVIEW

Fear begins with a scene where a former Goldman Sachs executive and Trump’s top economic advisor, Gary Cohn, is afraid of pulling the United States’ trade agreement with South Korea because it would mean losing a key ally and jeopardizing their military assets based in South Korea. Cohn and other staff members are already hiding drafts of it in the hopes that Trump will forget about it. This practice has been commonplace in order to protect the country and the most powerful man from his own ignorance.

Bob Woodward, in Fear: Trump in the White House, digs into the workings of what seems to be a highly-dysfunctional White House. Basing on hundreds of hours of interviews with sources close to the president, detailed notes of top-level meetings, personal files, and documents, the book shows a new world within the Trump administration.
