The preliminary exercises preceding the Hanon exercises were very well explained and quite accessible, but it must be remembered that the left hand and right hands function with similar movements only in OPPOSITE directions. The Hanon exercises are not written in that manner since both hands are moving in PARALLEL directions. In that case, the movements are completely different when played simultaneously with both hands and for this, nothing is mentioned or worked on in the preliminary exercises.1 person found this helpful
