    Based on a true story.

O k, Billy, right to the left! yelled Dad.

Billy felt the weight of the bat and adjusted his grip. The pitcher wiggled his hand, which meant he would throw it inside. Billy saw it and stepped to his left. Throw. Swing. Hit. The ball was square and it flew upward as if the wind had caught it in a stream. Higher. Billy only hesitated a split second, just long enough to gaze at the beauty of it. Then he tore off in a sprint. By the time Billy hit first, he broke stride and galloped as the ball cleared the fence.

Bring it in, boys yelled the coach as he cupped his hands to his mouth.
