About this ebook

The Arabic language is spoken by more than 310 million people in about 28 countries. It is also spoken as a second language by an additional 270 million people around the world, putting it in the top five most spoken languages. Because of this, Arabic has picked up and uses words from indigenous languages or borrowed from other languages, thus creating some variations of words used in spoken conversation.

Designed for students of the Arabic language at all levels of learning, this dictionary will cover as many dialect variations of the Arabic language as possible, including slang and colloquial language to help you understand or be understood when you visit various Arabic speaking countries.

Updates to this publication will be made on a monthly basis, so be sure to return to this page and download so you'll always have the latest copy.

    How To Use the Dictionary

Traditionally, Arabic dictionaries will list their entries according to the root of the word. For many beginners (and intermediate students), finding the root of a word can be quite a challenge. So, I've decided to follow the example of the few Arabic dictionaries that allow you to look for an entry based on the first letter of the word.

    Main Entries

The top line shows the main entry in a larger font than the rest of the entry. The language for these are based on Modern Standard Arabic. This
