Chapter One: Basics to Analyze or Read People
Isn’t analyzing or reading people a psychiatrist’s forte? Why would I do that? Well, even without a degree, an average person tries to analyze every other fellow being he or she comes across. The moment a human bumps into a fellow being, he or she starts to analyze the body language, the eye contact, the body posture and the voice tone. He or she tries to find the real person behind the mask one usually wears. This can be done only when one can interpret both verbal and nonverbal cues.
It is not always possible to go by logic – it won’t tell you the complete story about a person. It is important to analyze all the other critical information that people give you in the form of nonverbal signals. If you want to do this, then the first thing to keep in mind is to get rid of all the preconceived notions and assumptions you have. Leave all your emotional baggage behind. Let go of the ego clashes, anger and old resentments. These emotional factors stop you from being able to see a person clearly. The primary aspect is to stay objective and receive information without disturbing or distorting it. Be
