Geena had recently graduated from University and found employment at a local branch of a national company a few miles north of Miami, Florida. The head office was in Denver, Colorado. She was one of many candidates who applied for the advertised position. Her attractive appearance, sparkling personality and excellent academic performance resulted in a job offer. Geena did not hesitate to accept the position but delayed her response long enough for her new employer to believe that she had had other offers.

Several months had passed since Geena last visited her good friend Dorothy McFarlan. Geena had been invited to Dorothy’s birthday party. She had asked Dave Johnson, a young handsome man who had been befriended by her grandmother in the past, to accompany her after he had arrived for a short stay.

Geena, who was genuinely infatuated by Dave, was feeling very uncomfortable by now. While realizing that sooner or later she would have to see Dorothy, she had at last opted to deal with the situation. She knew that by visiting Dorothy she would be faced with some awkward questions. In spite of what had happened, she still had a lingering desire to see Dave again.

As she approached her friend’s home on Paradise Beach, she was pleased to see Dorothy standing outside to welcome her.
