- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I liked this book a lot. In The Conquerors, a great army proves its worth by conquering all of its strongest neighbors and proclaiming “we are the conquerors” until only one nation which doesn’t even have an army remains. The powerful army goes to conquer it, but every soldier comes back having adopted the musical, pacifist culture of the nation they went to conquer. This book looks at the culture of “conquest” and helps teach the lesson that ideas can be stronger than armies. It examines this from the perspective of "the conquerors."
