About this ebook

Sharing what you know with your lover can give him the power he needs to win, especially when he's fighting a rogue wolf.

Mark Delonco was betrayed, ostracized, rejected, beaten and left for dead by a pack brother. As he wanders the forest, an unfamiliar scent brings him to a gruesome scene—and his betrayer. Another confrontation brings not only victory for the moment but also the possibility for love and redemption.

Victor Bradley could never maintain a relationship with anyone and he didn't know why. It wasn't that something was wrong with the men he chose, it was just that no one ever felt right to him. While visiting his forest home, a stranger appears at the door and changes his life. How can he know a man he has never met?

    Prologue

Regina heard the wooden floors creak under the pressure of footfalls behind her. She adjusted the baby in her arms to look over her shoulder. Her husband stood in the doorway. She smiled as he reached for the ceiling and yawned loudly.

Hi, sweetheart. Did you enjoy your nap? she asked, accepting the kiss he placed on her forehead.

It was very pleasant, Regina, thank you.

She flipped the baby over and shifted him to her shoulder. Victor just woke up as well. Do you mind if we take him out to play by the lake for a while before I start dinner? She patted the child’s back.

    Of course not, darling.

Charles took the child from her and she gathered their things. Only a few feet outside the home’s back door, just beyond a fire pit and a large tree stump used for chopping wood, lay a crystal-clear lake. Regina loved coming to their forest home. The house was only an hour south of Indianapolis in Connelly, Indiana, where the industrialization of the forest was still kept at bay. The old log cabin and the nearby lake had been in Charles’ family since long before his birth.

Though the sun could not be seen through the dense leaves over their picnic site, the heated air and peeks of light on the water before them told of its existence. Regina settled on the blanket by the water’s edge with her feet in the water. Charles lay beside her, playfully tossing the babe into the air, both of them laughing gleefully. Suddenly, he clutched his son close and sat up straight. Regina frowned at his abrupt movement.

    Honey, did you hear something?

Before Regina could answer, a wolf burst from the trees and into the clearing, startling them. Regina screamed and Charles jumped to his feet. He shoved the infant into her arms and pushed them behind him. The huge wolf, its body wide, thick and sandy-furred, glared at them with yellow eyes. Its snout wrinkled as it snarled menacingly, baring its teeth. There was no doubt the wolf was preparing to attack.

Run, sweetheart! Take the baby back into the house, Charles commanded.

Regina moved to do as her husband had told her, but the wolf leaped in front of her, blocking her getaway. Charles reached for the blanket and stepped in front of his wife again.

Yah! Yah! Go away, wolf! he shouted, flapping his arms wildly. He whipped the blanket at the beast.

Regina watched as her husband moved back and forth in front of her trying to fend off the wolf. To her dismay, the wolf stood its ground, growling and snapping at him,
