Song Writing Attempt #1
There's a terrible monster you might know
It hangs over you like a crow
I'll warn you once to keep you from pain
For it will drive you insane
It knows everything you love
It knows everything you hate
Give it awhile and it will show you its face
Its always with you, its always stalking
Stop stalling or your life will be the one its stomping
There's a terrible monster you might know
It hangs over you like a crow
I'll warn you once to keep you from pain
For it will drive you insane
It might bring you to Heaven
It might bring you to Hell
But there is one thing for sure, it knows you very well
So listen closely to me and find it and put it to sleep
Or it will be your soul it reaps
There's a terrible monster you might know
It hangs over you like a crow
I'll warn you once to keep you from the pain
For it will drive you insane
Have you seen it?
Felt it?
Of course you have it!
You've seen a mirror before
Maybe you've been acting?
Because you're the one I've been describing!
You're the only one who could stop it!
Follow the truth
Be right and just
Or your soul will damned in that you can trust!
#2 Fake gods
Bow down!
Bow down!
Bow down!
Bow down to the god you've made in your own image
One that follows your rules, one that does what you tell it to do
For your imagination has given you a tool to justify your actions
It makes what you do holy and right
Though we all know that your god is yourself
Bow down!
For the god you've made
Bow down!
To your lord of hate
Bow down!
To whom you please
Bow down!
To what you worship in vain
Bow down to your delusions
To your self-indulgence
You kill and rape in its name
But what you might worship is the devil
And he doesn't care about you, all he cares about is himself
Does that sound familar at all?
Bow down!
For the god you've made
Bow down!
To your lord of hate
Bow down!
To whom you please
Bow down!
To what you worship in vain
Bow down!
To the lord of hate
Bow down!
To the lord of fake
Bow down!
To the lord of you
Bow down!
Because you need to believe what you're doing is good and true!
#3 Useful Ignorance
See truth!
In your useful ignorance,
Affirm your truth
Live your reality
Be your own god
Doesn't it feel good?
Isn't what feels good right?
A useful idiot
A useless person
Wasted potential
Self-indulgent hypocrite
This is you in your useful ignorance
In your useful ignorance,
Re-write history
Re-define words
Change the truth
Give nature your voice
And through it all, convince yourself you are right
A useful idiot
A useless person
Wasted potential
Self-indulgent hypocrite
This is you in your useful ignorance
Can you even see clearly in your haze?
Can you understand what I'm saying?
I can help you, but you are too deaf, too blind to consider me right
I leave you to your fate then
You far from hope
Far from love, goodness
Far from even yourself
You might be worth saving if you weren't so stuck in your useful ignorance
#4 Rose in the Desert
I'm a broken man
Pieces missing and pieces in the wrong place
A face hurt by life
And a life made miserable by my own decisions
It's all hopeless for me
But then a light appeared and I saw your face
You came to give me happiness and joy
I tried to push you away
I tried to show you that I didn't deserve your unending love
How could someone as magnificent as you even try?
But you persisted
You loved me in ways I never knew someone could
You showed me the hidden potential inside me
I knew joy and happiness that made all the suffering worth it
I returned the favor
You gave me all of you and I gave you all of me
I dedicated my life to you
You're
