- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Sometimes children throw a tantrum easily without knowing why they feel that way. It's essential to name and validate their feelings. I notice a page that says, "I'm frustrated because I can't do it." Many children say those words too often so it can be relatable to them. The book offers "Give it up or Give another try?" It would make them think twice that they are ready to deal with it, no matter how hard it seems.
It's highly recommended for those who want to explain kinds of feelings with examples.
Silly or angry, happy or sad - They're all part of me! :) - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Really good book! My 4 year old wants to read this over and over.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This book is very educational about the different emotions that you can feel and provides examples of when and why you might feel that way.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5The Way I Feel is a great book that helps young children learn about emotions. The book talks about the major emotions such as being excited, happy, sad, angry, jealous, scared, and surprised. The book explains each emotion by explaining a certain situation for each and showing a visual image of facial expressions. This book is great for young children around toddler and preschool aged, because this is when they are really learning to express their emotions successfully. I teach in toddler and preschool classrooms, and when we read this book I like to have an activity to go along with the reading, so I have the children show me their faces for each of the emotions displayed while we are on that emotion. This book makes learning fun, and does a great job of properly displaying each of the major emotions.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Cain helps kids explore their feeling toward self control and temper management as they learn to understand their emotions.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5This illustrations in this one are good. I'll admit it's a great concept... and my three-year-old seems to like this book. I don't, though. I don't hate it or anything like that, I just think it could be so much better than it is. There is an incongruity between the pictures and the text. The illustrations are fun and silly and exciting. The text is predictable and unimaginative - kind of boring. That's the way I feel. (I know, I know - bad pun.)
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Wonderful book for giving young children a lot of words to describe their feelings. It rhymes. I like how each page dealt with a different emotion and that word was highlighted with script that felt as descriptive as the rhyme. Ends with a useful "A Note to Parents" section.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5A book to help children understand the way they feel.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This is a really good book. It is really good because it bring up emotions that people have every day and the author and illustrator both us exaggerated features to express words and pictures. In the book it says “Frustrated. I am frustrated because I can’t do it.” Many children say those words too often so it can be relatable to readers. The author uses large font sizes to represent the emotions. The illustrator uses different colors to represent different emotions. For Happy, the illustrator used bright colors such as yellow, green, and pink. For angry, the illustrator used vibrant colors such as red. The big idea of the book was that emotions will come and go and you will never know what is coming next but they are a part of you.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5This book explains feelings with rhyming. The illustrator uses colors to help show the feelings and mood of the character. For each character and his/her mood, the colors change to match the mood. The story gives examples of what might make a person feel the way they do.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5a book that shows ways to express our feelings and gives examples of what things might make us feel a certain way. Great way to teach feelings and vocabulary.ages 3-5Puyallup Library
