Hybrid Democracy Works Better: From Adversarial Democracy To Collegial Democracy

About this ebook
Democracy as a political system has become terribly corrupted in the last two centuries. It has been abused and misused in many countries and by many political conspirators. It's high time to reset democracy.
This book looks at the most bizarre episodes of democracy in recent years. In the 2016 referendum known as Brexit, the British people decided on the exit of Britain from the European Union to free itself from the bureaucracy and dominance of big money. But it has proven to be an unexpectedly tortuous process for all concerned. The fiasco and debacle of the British Parliament in tearing its own heart out over this issue was simply unbelievable. It said much about the abuse of democracy and the misuse of constitutional legal power in this day and age.
Similar abuses can be seen in the many dysfunctional democracies all over the world.
The book asked puzzling questions such as why the climate change activists protest against governments, big businesses and industries, when it's all of us, all the users and producers of all our consumer goods and sprawling human habitats, who are responsible for climate change?
Why are we all over-consuming, over-producing, over-building, over-refining, over-mining minerals, over-extracting oils, over-processing our food, over-using natural resources, over-exploiting other species, over-providing for our creature comfort, over-embellishing our lifestyle, over-obsessed with ostentatious living, over-developing human settlements, over-producing real and virtual trash, over-generating and storing highly energy-intensive terabytes and yottabytes of digital data, and over-reproducing ourselves?
The book then advanced the vision of a new hybrid model of democracy. First of all, it is to elevate the civil service administration to a higher level and to allow civil service to be based solely on merit and to be free from political control. Secondly, there should be a district council election system to allow local residents of various districts to elect their own district councilor who will have a fixed budget to spend on local social welfare and local events. Thirdly, there should be a presidential election by a single-use concave of group representatives who are nominated or elected by various major groups of various significant segments of the population. These three components are then fully examined in the book.
This Hybrid Democracy will be more stable, more representative, more collaborative, more transparent, more efficient, and more effective. It combines all the best features of various existing systems. It will be the best of all political systems.

Chapter 1 Democracy Reset and Democracy Models
Democracy as a political system has become terribly corrupted in the last two centuries. It has been abused and misused in many countries and by many political conspirators. It's high time to reset democracy.
It is also high time to review the various democracy models that are being practised now, and to explore how a new and better model of democracy can be developed.
Chapter 2 Brexit Democracy
One of the most bizarre episodes of democracy in recent years is Brexit, the 2016 referendum of the British people, that decided on the exit of Britain from the European Union. This was for UK to free itself from European legislative and administrative bureaucracy, from European financial control, and from the flood of European immigrants.
It highlighted how a mere 52%-48% division of the votes in a purportedly democratic process can lead to a momentous decision that plunges the whole country and even the whole European Union into great turmoil. Just 2% of the voters can make the difference of leave
or remain
for everybody else in UK in this farcical democratic method of referendum, despite the great differences in the voted preference in different regions of the country.
In every way, Brexit has proven to be an unexpectedly tortuous process for all concerned.
