AT WORK WITH / TRAVIS DEAN OF CANTILEVER INTERIORS

PLEASE TELL US A LITTLE ABOUT YOURSELF, YOUR BACKGROUND AND HOW YOU GOT TO WHERE YOU ARE TODAY…

I grew up in the Mornington Peninsula, we lived on the land and that experience really translated into an appreciation of nature and physical materiality. I’ve always enjoyed making. Countered by a practical and ‘’ upbringing in 70’s Australia, I entered a carpentry trade apprenticeship, skills which I still use today. My grandfather designed furniture, he was a big influence for me. Once I got my ticket, it didn’t take long and I started my own furniture design business. This when I started collaborating with , who was also a furniture maker, on larger pieces including kitchens. That was in 2006 and we’ve been at it ever since.
