    The World Pheasant Association (WPA) is a charity started by shooting enthusiasts that is punching well above its weight. Over the past 44 years it has worked tirelessly to conserve the world’s galliformes. These are what are now more commonly as game birds – heavy-bodied, ground-feeding birds – and include pheasants, peacocks, partridge and grouse.

    The WPA highlights how hunting and conservation can go hand in hand. Fundraising is a vital part of this work and one of the WPA’s prime annual events is the Compton Manor Charity Clay Shoot in Hampshire, which has been running for 10 years. Keen shooters and
