    About this book:

Beaten and banished from his pride, leopard shifter Ian just wants to make it to Sumerland to start over, maybe join a new pride. His journey is halted when he crosses paths with a wolf. Alpha Elias is insistent that Ian return with him to his pack. Having already stood up to one Alpha, Ian recognizes he’s in no condition to contest another. Nor can he resist the call of his mate...

    Under the Blue Moon

Ian walked along the moonlit path, pausing every so often to sniff the air, enjoying the warm scent of early autumn. It was always his favorite season, and right now, the hint of something familiar was a welcome relief.

His body ached from the beating he’d taken. He could feel the bruises on his jaw and face, the fractured ribs where Bostic and Ralis had kicked Ian after he’d fallen and punching had no longer been enough. All things considered, he was probably lucky they hadn’t done worse to him, though he still would have been happier had they merely let him leave in peace.

God forbid Alpha go one damn day without having to posture and prove his might. What was it about cats, they always seemed like they had to prove themselves, even when it was already clear to the rest of the pride that yes, clearly the Alpha was strong and in charge?

He sighed and rubbed at his arms. Much as he loved autumn, he enjoyed it more when he wasn’t freezing to death. But the pride had been gracious enough to let him leave with his life intact. Ian hadn’t been stupid enough to test Alpha’s generosity by asking if he could pack some of his belongings—or at the very least grab a coat—first. The smart decision had been getting the hell out of Dodge as fast as possible.

Shifting would help. His cat was always warm, even in chillier weather, but despite popular belief, being a shifter didn’t mean he was magically immune to injury or could instantly recover. He was at greater risk of breaking his already fractured bones if he attempted a shift. And things likely wouldn’t end well from there.

He sniffed at the air again. And stopped in his tracks. He breathed more deeply, just to make sure. Ian hung his head and shook it in resignation.

    Wolf.

He’d thought he’d managed to skirt around any wolf territory. They tended to settle their packs well away from marked trails and paths. Clearly Ian didn’t know wolves as well as he’d thought.

Ian looked around, sniffing the air as he tried to spot, or at least pinpoint, what direction the wolf lay in. He thought he had him, in a copse of trees about 4 yards east of where he stood. Not that it mattered. Ian certainly wasn’t in any kind of condition to take on a wolf. He didn’t want to anyway.

Look, I’m just passing through, okay. Ian looked in the direction he thought the wolf was in as he spoke. I’m not looking for a fight; I’m not here to invade your territory. He just wanted to get out. Out of the mountains, out of the forest—to the
