Computing is fun, but it’s not without its hazards. The Internet sometimes seems like a breeding ground for nasty things that can ruin your day (and your computer) such as viruses, malware, ransomware, trojans and worms. We must learn to recognise and avoid online threats while discovering simple ways to avoid them or fix things before the damage is done. Let’s take a look at the main threats online and what we can all do to make sure we don't fall foul of them.

The aim of a virus is not always obvious and not always the same. Some viruses are created and released by people who just want to see the world burn, those who like causing chaos and misery for their fellow man. Some are designed to create back doors into systems or to steal information. In many cases, viruses are designed to do one thing: make your computer inoperable.
