The national animal of Scotland is the unicorn.
This is not in fact quite as weird as it might appear (though it is pretty odd). Although most countries have selected animals that are typical, or even unique, to their location - like the Australian kangaroo - at least nine other countries have, like Scotland, chosen mythical species as their national symbol.
