This beautiful Athens-based studio serves as both a personal space and educational suite for production students

MusicTech: Tell us about the studio.

Dino Tsioris: It was built in August 2019 in co-operation with Athens Pro Audio and Alpha Acoustiki, two of the biggest sound and development companies in Greece. It was built as my personal studio but also as part of our DJ and production school, DJ Survival, and is in Glyfada, Athens.

It took three weeks to build. The hardest part was the acoustic design, as the aim was to be one of the best-sounding rooms in Greece, which it is. The room has an ambient noise level of -60dB. The acoustics have a flat reverberation time from 20Hz to 20kHz and, all parameters are in line with the European Broadcasting Union. The acoustics provide a sweet spot for the producer and six students.

Now all of this should be standard in every professional-level studio so why is it important for mine? The most amazing thing about all these measurements and facts is that it was achieved in a room that is quite small. It is 3.15m by 2.67m, has a height of 2.67m, and there are no sound panels – not
