Introduction

But unlike typical cookware, you cannot make as many delicious dishes as you can with cast iron cookware. That is exactly what you will learn to do inside of this book. Cast Iron Cornbread

There is no other classic Southern dish that is as delicious and easy to make as this dish. Make this dish to pair alongside your next Southern meal.

Makes: 4 servings

Total Prep Time: 30 minutes

Ingredients:

1 cup of all-purpose flour

1 cup of yellow cornmeal

1 Tbsp. of baking powder

½ tsp. of salt

1 cup of whole milk

1 egg

5 Tbsp. of vegetable oil

Directions:

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.

In a large bowl, add in the all-purpose flour and the yellow cornmeal. Stir well to mix. Add in the salt and the baking powder. Stir well to mix and set the mixture aside.

In a medium bowl, add in the whole milk, large egg and vegetable oil. Whisk until evenly beaten.

Pour the egg mixture into the flour mixture. Stir well until evenly blended.

Pour the batter into a large cast iron skillet.

Place into the oven to bake for 20 to 25 minutes or until golden brown.

Remove and serve immediately.
