Tell me a story, Mother?
asked an eight-year-old girl with curly dark hair and dark eyes.
What story would you have me tell, Moira?
asked Keita as she heated milk over the hearth fire, the sleeves of her green woolen tunic dress rolled up neatly and out of the way as she stirred.
Watching her mother, Moira handed her the rennet from a lamb slaughtered the day before, Tell me about our people.
"Our family has lived on this beautiful island for many generations, so long ago that no one really knows when we first came here from the vast lands in the south. Time has changed our language, especially now the Saxons have taken over the many farms we Dobunni held in common ownership and guarded by our hill forts. But about four hundred years ago, invaders from a place they call ‘Rome’ changed our lands even more.
