About this ebook

Full of engaging illustrations and quirky humor, the Ellie McDoodle series is perfect for fans who love the Dork Diaries and the Treehouse Books.

One girl. One sketchbook. One week with the world's most annoying relatives.

When Ellie McDougal's parents go out of town, she's forced to go on a camping trip with her aunt, uncle, cousins, and baby brother, Ben-Ben. Ellie can handle mosquitos and poison ivy, but sharing a cabin with her crazy relatives? No way! From her aunt's many rules to her cousin Eric's constant teasing, Ellie needs her sketchbook to survive this family vacation!

Ruth McNally Barshaw brings Ellie's diary to life with illustrations of games, songs, weird facts, and more, and readers will have a blast at camp with Ellie!

A fun book to read for older elementary kids. My daughter, who was in the second grade at the time, enjoyed me reading it to her as well. The doodles are great and the book can definitely be used as a started for getting children to keep their own journals!

Our hero is dreading the vacation she is forced to take with her cousins -- all of whom are irritating in their own unique ways -- when her parents go out of town. Ellie McDoodle is determined to ignore her cousins and bury herself in her journal. The journal, of course, is the book. It's an account of the painful and hilarious and growth transformation Ellie makes over the course of the week she spends with her cousins, where she learns to appreciate each member of her exteneded family for very specific reasons. The hilarious illustrations included on every page show the ups and downs of Ellie's experience and tell the story in much more detail than the verbal entries. This deligthful romp in the woods with Ellie and her cousins is one beginning chapter readers, both boys and girls, should not miss.
