- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I really enjoyed this book for two reasons. First, I liked the language that was used because it was simple. It can easily be understood by younger children, who would really benefit from this book if they have a sibling that is different from them and that they don’t always get along with. The language shows simple contrasts and similarities between the two sisters; for example, one page reads, “One liked to get up with the sun, and the other would sleep all day,” and another page reads, “Both liked to bake cookies.” The second reason I liked this book is because of the illustrations. They are essential to the story and engage the reader. I liked how during the section that discussed the differences between the sisters, some illustrations showed them individually, while others showed them together but doing separate activities. This shows the young reader that even though the sisters are different, they still can happily do separate activities together. The illustrations were very endearing, and the last page’s illustration shows the two sisters hugging, with the little sister being picked up by the big sister. The big idea of this book is that even though two people or siblings may have differences, it doesn’t mean that they can’t be friends or love each other. It promotes acceptance, family and friendship.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Sisters can be different and alike in many ways. McPhail gives readers insight into what being someone's sister can be like. While sisters may feel like they are completely different from one another, with a little effort and an open mind, they can realize how much they are alike. And of course, sisters will share an undeniably love for each other, regardless of their differences and similarities.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5This shares the similarities and differences sisters can have. Always love your sibling, because they are the closest ones you can have that cannot leave your mind. It was a good book about family.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5My mom gave this book to me and my sister when we were young. We loved it because of how we could see ourselves in the characters. It is wonderful to show the multiple facets of a sister relationship with love for one another at the foundation.
