A spring training dilemma

Q I bought a labrador puppy in the spring and he will be almost nine months old in November. I’m worried that getting under way with his proper training in the winter isn’t going to be easy because of my shooting commitments and the shorter days. Shall I leave it until the spring, so that I can devote more time to him?
A Spring and summer are the easiest times of year to have a young puppy around, so yours will have had a great start already. The downside is that puppies of that age can start to do a little more formalised training just as the shooting season begins.
