Catalina, macOS 10.15, is the very last chapter in the Mac OS X story. And, like other gripping stories, not all of your favourite characters are going to make it to the end…
Let’s start with iTunes, which has been part of the Mac OS X story since 2001. Catalina killed it, replacing it in 2019 with three individual, focused apps: Music, Podcasts and TV. iTunes may have been the biggest casualty but there were many more, because Catalina also dropped support for 32-bit apps.
Catalina also continued to bring the Mac, the iPhone and the iPad closer together. Its Sidecar
