At this point, having mastered the structure and vocabulary in the previous books in the series, the young reader will be approaching 'functional literacy' and be not only "learning to read" but "reading to learn". As such, they will be able to enjoy learning the fascinating historical and scientific content presented in this final book in the series.

On Wednesday, they went to a bookshop with their teacher. In the bookshop, Pat saw a beautiful book all about parrots, and Lee looked for a book about rats and snakes. Lee really likes rats and snakes!
