The eerie massive glow surrounding the gorgeous ancient structure, a magnificent cottage, swallowed the quiet New England skies. Desiree threw the lamp across the living room. It shattered. I hate you! She yelled. Braydon, who mirrors actor Brian White’s physicality, rushed toward her grabbed her arms spun them around her back, jerked her along. Let’s go you nosey bitch shut the hell up. Say something else. Say another word. His inner demon was fully exposed. Her eye was swollen shut. Gushes of blood oozed from her top lip staining the intricately woven nightgown that adorned her shapely temple of a body. She strongly resembled actress Lisa Raye’s attributes as she scatted up the stairs, one hundred forty pounds, in the dark, pistol wedged between her fingers. She was unable to embrace the nerve to bring the same level of harm he’d given her for so long. A light chill was in the atmosphere. Utilities purposely cut. I’m sick of you and everything you stand for! Get out! Don’t ever come back! The frantic injured woman hollered at her abusive boyfriend. They’d been together three years locked in a contentious union unfit for the most savage of animals. He bolted the stairs behind her as his temper exploded clamping onto her leg. They fell onto the carpet. Take your hands from around my neck before i shoot your dick off! Do it! Pull the trigger whore i wanna see you make the biggest mistake of your life. They wrestled at the top landing pawing at each other both trying to get ahold of the weapon. "When i tell you stay out my business i mean that shit. He spat, feeling her bare heel land between his legs. He punched her leg, twisted it. Stop it! Ahhh! No! It’s you and your self serving lies! Just leave me alone please! The twenty-two caliber weapon miraculously went airborne. A rough texture of another man’s voice was introduced into the equation. Touch her again. Last day on earth. Get’cha bitch ass up. Geno Streetz, handsome, seven feet tall two hundred pounds athletic build, dark as night complexion, well trimmed goatee, spoke with absolute seriousness. He was calm, collected, dressed in black wearing leather gloves with a glock semi automatic pistol drawn directly at Braydon’s forehead. Geno, born/raised in the Bronx of New York, done his share of dirt, had only begun to reveal his power making certain there was no mistake. I was wondering how long it took you to get here. Braydon said, elevating arms in truce, getting off the floor. Desiree sobbed, chest heaving for breaths, disheveled state, moving carefully to refuge. Ya outta line. I told you before. Geno warned, keeping the gun steady on target, forced to commit a brazen act of self indulgence on the highest level. It’s not your concern. We can handle this. Desiree huffed. We? Depends on who’s mouth that information’s coming out of. Geno told her. You don’t owe my brother anymore. Let it go. She barked. I’m gonna be honest from here on out baby. She knows this. Braydon exclaimed, looking at them. I don’t negotiate from a position of weakness. You do. Geno informed, mean mugging the guy. That’s enough! This is my life. Not yours. Desiree said, tears in her eyes, grit jaw. Geno glanced at her, outright ignored. You heard the lady. Simple lover’s quarrel. Matters of the heart man. Braydon mocked, chest fighting for oxygen. I got heart for all of us." Geno admitted, squeezing the trigger twice. Bah! Bah! Blue flames exploded from the barrel. Two hot slugs buried into Braydon’s chest. Geno stood statuesque, no emotion, stone face, arm stiff in the air watching the man instantly collapse in agony. Is that the best you got! C’mon muthafucka! This should be a goddamn breeze! Braydon shouted. No! Don’t shoot him again please stop! You’re gonna kill him stop! He’s hurt! Desiree ran to her cheating lover cradling his upper body stroking his head. Braydon’s breaths were shallow, life slowly leaving his physical existence. Why don’t you try finding some love in your life then maybe you won’t feel the need to save me. She got indignant, kissing Braydon’s lips listening to him moan in anguish. That’s your lane. Not mine. Geno stated plainly, tucking the weapon in his back jean pocket, never showing an ounce of sympathy. Desiree touched Braydon’s shoulders. Blood squirted from them. Flesh wounds i’ll be okay babe. I’m trained in this type shit. Call the ambulance. Braydon mustered words grimaced in pain. Shh, don’t speak. Be still. Desiree whispered, rocking him, tears flowing to her chin, pretending the shooter was invisible. Seconds later she rummaged through Braydon’s pockets for his phone. If you need me you know the number....put ice on that eye. Geno told her, screwfaced, staring blankly at a woman who’d sustained way too much abuse for one woman. Desiree frowned, left angered and hopeless, dialed 911 watching Geno take long strides out of the residence.

Face it, his train wreck of a life’s your adrenaline rush. You need something to fix. Life’s boring without him. Please tell me i’m wrong. Victoria winced, a highly intelligent sexy slender beautiful dark sister, large breasts, twenty inch hair, every bit of her was biologically blessed. When i met him it was just this symphony going on around me. I didn’t know what to make of it. We have choices. I don’t care what anyone has to say about the way i live. Desiree answered with a sigh, fluffing out her curls at the picnic table they sat, panning eyes around the peaceful serene grounds. Colorful flowers aligned the encasement and perimeter. Rambunctious children ran laughing joking with their parents. When people’s actions don’t match their words a conversation is unnecessary. Stop trying to talk to adults. I’ve said this a thousand times. I know. Desiree admitted, rolling eyes shaking her head. They’re well aware of their bullshit. You just need to accept what you know and go. Bye-bye nice knowing ya.  You make it sound so easy. We both know it’s not. Who’s got time for this? Victoria forced, reaching in her purse for a compact mirror. Just like that huh? Hasta luego sayonara. Don’t let the door hit right? I wish i had your strength. I was young dumb too once. I used to think you had to be loosey goosey early in life. If you skip that phase it shows up in your forties. Last till your golden years. Really not a great idea to take that route. Victoria stated. True, but Braydon cares. He does. He just has problems. "He doesn't give a damn about nobody but money. Is he still in the hospital? I’m only asking out of curiosity. I have no desire to see a man who hurts my friend. None. Girl, i haven't left his side in five days. I had to get away. He’ll be discharged soon. After all this money can i have peace and tranquility? Money rightfully yours isn’t the problem. He is. Geno loves you for real, clearly. He’s just scared of getting hurt is all. I wish you’d explore that and leave this no good bum. The understanding just isn’t there. He actually pulled the trigger. Desiree added, trying to comprehend the madness. Yep. Twice. If that ain’t love i don’t know what is. Joy thinks of him as family too. Victoria smirked, taking a long sip from a straw of pineapple juice. Seriously. What the living hell just happened? Crazy thing is Braydon never told them who did it. If my brother were alive he’d cosign his behavior no questions. True. They were close. More than brothers i’d say. Victoria relayed. Geno hasn’t been the same since. He never jokes or laughs like he used to. No gray areas anymore. Desiree said. Qualities of a good man who’s matured and lives in the same state as you. A little rough around the edges but you can work with him. You need it. When was the last time you had a man? Um, please be honest. Desiree asked, a slight grin. Excuse me? Victoria wore a broad smile. You’re one of the best scientists this region has ever seen but you need some old fashion love’n miss thang. You can’t live through me your whole life. They giggled, sipped drinks simultaneously. Between Joy, work, who has time? I’m busy discovering saving lives bettering mankind thank you very much. Men are not a priority right now. Mm hm okay i’ll accept it. Only for the time being though. We will revisit. Someday it’ll happen. A girl can hope, right? Victoria answered, wondering if love would ever find her again. You didn’t have to leave the years you put in with him. Joy’s sensitive. It really wasn’t that big of a deal. Desiree refused to let go of the topic. A child sees through the clearest lens. If that’s what she said happened then dammit it’s true. Victoria said, recalling painful events. I love her like my own. You know that. She’s notorious for spinning narratives. The only narrative needed to be spun was realizing he was always three sheets to the wind okay. Toast. He’s got a good job at Mass General right? Desiree probed. Yep. Dietary. Meal plans, but he works his way through all the nurses in the building, most of the lady patients too if they qualify, that’s if they still have a pulse. I don’t need a man like that. Victoria exclaimed. Point taken. Let’s get out of here. I have to get back to the hospital. Desiree exhaled stoutly, emotionally spent, kicking herself on how she had been driving Braydon toward seeing a fertility specialist. Hey, what happened to that big blue gem Braydon gave you? It was gorgeous. Victoria questioned. It’s in my closet collecting dust sitting alone without a care in the world. Victoria laid hands on her friend’s hand. Look, we both deserve to be happy. How about we do lunch this weekend? My treat. Victoria offered. Sure." Desiree replied unenthused. In unison they smiled reluctantly. Moments of silence captured them. Both drifting in thought enjoying the outdoors. Subtle winds caressed their skin blowing through hair ever so gently.

The monstrous exhaust pipes roared nearly shattering the sound barrier. Geno Streetz tore down his long driveway in a silver candy paint brand new Maserati. He shut off the engine, gathered belongings, activated custom suicide doors, hopped out, made his way up the immaculate walkway.

    Minutes Later

Starting to rethink giving you my key. Ever heard of a phone? Geno said, entering the foyer. That’s the type of energy that generates winners. Hello to you too. Joy, Victoria’s daughter, attributes of entertainer Teyonna Taylor, smiled, eyeing him as he walked right past heading to the living quarters. Her hair and clothes attractively arranged wearing a yellow beaded sundress, clear kitten heels, hoisting a modest backpack onto her shoulder. She followed him. How’s school? He asked, laying keys and cellphone in a crystal dish on an oval glass table. She placed her bag on the carpet, sat across from him. The decorum throughout the single family home was amazing, excellence of sorts, an assisted vision by the best decorators in town. I can’t complain. Biochemistry? "Yep. I’m on the Dean’s list baby but if it weren’t for study partners i'd be dolo one hundred percent of the time. She said. Good. Keep ya eyes on your books. Of course. This one guy though gets on my nerves. He’s so clueless i actually lose brain cells by the globs listening to his rationale. You ain’t got time for all that. He looked at her concerned, positioning a Black and Mild between his lips, sparked a flame to it. He removed his jacket, shirt, sat in a red leather recliner, kicked his feet up on the ottoman that went with it. You're right i don't. Oh, i fixed you something to eat. It’s in the microwave. She said. Thanks. Anyway, this guy, he doesn’t know the difference between a snow bunny or dust bunny. Yes, we really argued about it. I put him on game courtesy of Mr. Streetz. Joy added with a sweet smile, reaching into her bag. Her ample plump behind and creamy thighs revealed nicely under her dress. He looked away refusing to get aroused by someone he considered family. What’s the difference? He asked, keeping a straight face, already knowing the answer to the question. One’s living good sleep in designer keep stocks, bonds, the other’s homeless stay knocking on the bando with blowed up heroine hands. Apples and oranges. Exactly. He said, pressing buttons on his Iphone. I might go to the movies with Sofia later, maybe, i don’t know. She’s from the Congo so she cooks her little native dishes and shit you can’t tell her nothing. She volunteered. Geno was busy catering to his phone messages. How do you keep this place cleaner than the board of health without a lady friend? She wanted to know, staring dead at him. Worry about yourself. Do you need something or don’t you have someplace to be since we talkin ‘bout places? Joy rose from the chair, sashayed into his personal space, dragged nails on his shoulder. I just came to spend time with you, jeesh. Do you think it’s possible to have two soul mates in one lifetime? Her voice was seductive. He got up, walked to the mantle, lifted pocket contents from the night before. Never thought about it. Listen i got things to do. You’re always welcome but i’m a busy man. The entire time he didn’t crack a smile. I learn something new whenever i’m with you. She noted sarcastically, walking to the mantle he’d just left. A large blue gem sat on the top left encased in an open velvet box. It possessed a radiant sparkle. Wow, this thing’s flawless. Beautiful in fact. She said, inspecting it in the palms of her hands. Don’t touch that. He spoke abruptly. Fine. She gave a peculiar look at him, placed the gem back, headed to her chair. She retrieved her backpack from the floor. Mountain lions ain’t to be fucked with. They can jump forty feet in the air without a running start. Pure muscle killing machines. That’s your lesson for today. His tone, cavalier. I’ll keep that in mind. Don’t do anything i wouldn’t do. I’ll see you soon. Joy smiled, looped her bag on her shoulder. He turned in her direction. Don’t worry i’ll let myself out." She said, turning her back to him exiting the living area. Geno opted for no response, walked to the window overlooking a deserted stretch of newly done landscape and tar pavement.

    One Week Later

    Satania Farber Medical Center

The dank musty hall of the sixteen story building was crowded with staff and disturbed patients whom many were deep in psychosis, prepared to go to war with loud threatening voices that lived inside their heads. "Religion’s used as a way to control folks don’t you get it? She’s off her meds for the second time and i’m supposed to handle this? Adonis exhibited disdain whispering to a co-worker, an orderly who had the same position as he, regarding the facility’s unorthodox unethical practices. Yeah, this place is a hideous zoo. I can’t take much more. All smoke and mirrors if you ask me. Said the forty-nine year old male Caucasian guy moving his mouth ventriloquist style. They looked on at the spectacle playing out in front of them. You are of great value to us. Your thoughts matter we can work through this. Let us help you. Put the knife down, please. A young white physician attested, coaxing the jumper back indoors. I swear i’ll do it! Stay back don’t come any closer or i’ll slice my throat and let you watch me bleed like a pig! The distraught unglued young Oriental woman yelled as she torpedoed a large blue gem which landed in the corner under a desk. She was covered in self-inflicted scars, made it clear she was at her wits end. She held a butcher knife to her neck standing outside on the window ledge. Tears cascaded from her eyes. Her will to live had been lost, the mountainous height eager to bring about her demise. She continued to yell in a deranged stance. Adonis eased his way to the girl, taking calculated steps, arms up for peace. We just want to help. You don’t have to do this Ming. Please, come inside. Adonis reasoned. If you don't shut up so help me i’ll off myself right now! Leave me alone! Adonis moved two steps closer. Unruly patients shouted obscenities at the woman. Your fortune telling days are over! I hate you all! Eat shit and die! She scolded, pressing the serrated edge onto her jugular, eyes bulged, dilated. Kill yourself! Do it! Do it! Do it! Do it! Do it!" An old man chanted under the door frame, dressed as a clown with a big red
