      Introduction

      Join the crowd. Everybody is writing eBooks so why shouldn't you?

      Creating an eBook is easy. You can self–publish and start selling as soon as your manuscript is ready to publish. There is nothing to be afraid of. If you know how you can do most of your formatting as you write. People who make basic eBooks are not clever. They know how to follow instructions. That is all it takes to make a passable eBook.

      Making an ePub isn't hard at all as long as you are able to use a word processor with a style editor. It won't make a Rolls Royce of an eBook, but you will produce something people can read. Most of the time, that is all people want.

      Use this book as a learning tool and create your first eBook. You may even find you want to go on and try some of the more advanced software you can get for making eBooks, but that is outside the scope of this book. Everyone has to begin somewhere and this eBook is for beginners. Don't expect more than the basics here.

      As you can write an eBook and publish online, The overheads involved in creating eBooks are negligible or non-existent. This means it can be cheaper to publish or buy an eBook.

      Writing eBooks is the perfect solution for a cash-strapped writer who cannot afford to keep buying print books to sell.

      Easy to transport

      Print books are heavy to carry. You have to pack more weight with each paper or hardback book you include in your luggage.

      An eReader can house not one book, but an entire library. This makes eBooks a very convenient form of publishing as
