About this ebook

Molly is in love with Piper; she has been since they were freshmen in college, wide-eyed and unaware of the many intricacies of a relationship beyond just how they feel for each other. When they break up during college, convinced the futures they want are too different, Molly thinks that’ll be the end of it.

But, like most things in life, their love is a bit more complicated than that. Thrown together again and again, by fate, or circumstance, or coincidence, Molly finds that maybe the obstacles they face matter less than the idea of a future without Piper. This short erotic novella highlights the joyful misery of falling in love with someone you can’t have, and the miraculous devotion in choosing them anyway.

This contemporary erotic second-chance romance reveals a few snapshots of their life together.

This is so the type of story that the genre has been craving. Loved the characters and how hopeful their journey is.

Over Again - Imogen Markwell-Tweed

Part One

In the corner of the wedding reception, Molly gets drunk.

She’s in a dress that’s too tight across the chest and too loose at her hips, as unflattering as it is uncomfortable, and from across the room, her sister-in-law smiles sweetly and lifts her bedazzled champagne glass that says Bride.

Bitch. Making her wear this atrocious gown and fake eyelashes just because Molly begged her brother not to marry the woman. David had said no, clearly, so Molly really thinks that Rebecca could just get over it now, thanks so much.

Molly tosses back the rest of her drink. It’s too sweet, but slides down easily enough. She’s on her way to being truly drunk but if her four years at State did nothing else, it gave Molly the ability to walk in the straightest of all lines even while blackout.

Not that she intends on getting blackout drunk tonight. She doesn’t. She might think Rebecca and David are a truly atrocious match but, hey; what are your twenties for if not making life-altering and cringe-worthy mistakes? Her twin brother will just have to suffer for a while.

She raps her knuckles on the bar. The bartender, a guy called Mitch who may or may not be going home with Molly— it depends on how he plays his cards— rolls his eyes but dutifully pours her another sweet concoction.

Aw, Mitch, you shouldn’t have, Molly teases as she accepts the drink. It’s garnished with cherries.

He drops another cherry in. Eat something.

Molly waves him off with a dismissive hand. She does pop the cherry in her mouth though, and turns; she leans against the bar and surveys the room.

It’s early yet. The dancing’s started but even the older people and the families with kids are still here, milling around. Molly wishes she’d taken Betsy up on the offer to come with her as her date. Sure, bringing her ex-girlfriend to a family wedding sounds terrible, but standing here, tipsy and alone, is also terrible. She shouldn’t have told David to leave Rebecca. Now everyone on both sides is eyeing her as the enemy.

She finishes her drink, watching all the couples dancing slowly to a song she thinks is as overplayed as it is cliché. Then she feels bad, gets a glass of sparkling water, and slinks back to her corner.

Molly’s not a bitter person. She’s just… well, she’s a little lovesick. Sick of love, sick because of love. For all variations of the word, that’s where Molly’s at. She tried, for a while, to date like a regular person. To go for coffees and brunches and do movie nights with some girl’s friends, but it never worked. They’d break up, brutally, like she always did, and Molly’s just a bit worn out from it all now.

She shouldn’t have tried. She knows that. Molly’s not cut out for that saccharine romantic comedy stuff. She’s a train wreck on her best days and a hurricane on her worst. Taking another person down with her seems… selfish.

Molly stirs the sparkling water with a thin straw, regretting her decision to hydrate. She should get another drink.
