About this ebook

“Wait a Minute...Work Exists in the Music Business as an Artist?” The Guide to Run Your Artist Career, Get More Shows, and to be Likable in the Process is an ebook written through the inspiration of those artists in the music industry who would be identified as entitled. These persons in this particular industry of the music business and even those people in the business world have a belief that work should be done for them and where they can take a back seat. This book is not a drama filled book discussing these persons and personalities it is a step by step guide on how to improve your day to day in your personal and professional life through recommendations from Scott McCusker's 20+ years in the music industry and in corporate business firms. This book will lay out Scott's perfect morning routine, how to run your music career as an actual business, how to manage your brand and social media, and the list goes on.

    Preface

At the time of the release of this guide, we are all going through the body slam that is COVID-19. This guide was written well before any of this happened to the world. I hope all the contents of this guide will still apply to the world we live in today and when we get back to normal whatever that might look like. I believe this is a prime time, especially for those who are up and coming or just starting to put their head down and get to work on some of the tasks spelled out in this guide to be on their way to kick it into the next stage of their career. For those who are already established, there might be topics mentioned that you never had the time to focus on…like other opportunities outside of live shows to establish a new revenue stream or two.

Keep this in your thoughts while reading and I look forward to hearing your feedback from all of you out there. My team and I have a little more time on our hands during this time so feel free to reach out if you need a little more guidance in the tasks outlined in this guide. Intro

So you got on an agency or with a management company. Congratulations! This means you can now sit back, allow them to do all the heavy lifting, and you get to enjoy the fruits of all your hard work prior to that moment. They will work your social media, write your networking emails, and they will even make your fans happy. And while they’re at it, maybe they will pull up your DAW and start writing your music too! If you took me seriously in any of this... You guessed it! You are the problem and I want to thank you, you are the inspiration for why I am writing this guide of sorts.

Let us take a step back to when you enjoyed the idea of this industry. You woke up and you went through your email in hopes
